Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. Hello everyone!

I am looking for some feedback and I am hoping some of you more experienced bloggers will help me out a bit. I am new to blogging (well, this is still my first year) and I have posted roughly 20 things over that time. What I have noticed while looking over other pages (and there are tons of good ones!) is that everyone seems to have so much traffic on their pages; lots of comments, likes, followers. ect. while I don’t seem to have that much.

So here are my questions….1. Can you check out my site and tell me what you think? 2. Any advice you can give on writing? Did you like any particular posts? 3. How did you increase your traffic and connect with others?

    Here is my site: https://memorycellar.wordpress.com

Thank you, all! I really appreciate any and all feedback and look forward to hearing from you.

    1. Your writing style is great very poetic using a lot of imagery. Perhaps the bloggers who have many followers have been blogging for years. Don’t compare yourself. Engaging in the community pools helps to slowly build and audience. Also share your writings on your FB page and your other social media outlets. If you have a niche find FB groups of that niche and share your links. I normally would only read the latest article on a blog site. So find yourself here at the pool party every Monday and share your latest blog. Introduce yourself nicely and provide a synopsis of the blog post. It is also essential to comment on other people’s blogs as well. It is just as important to be a reader as a writer. Happy blogging.

      1. Great tips, Glenda! I really appreciate it. I am working on being more visible. I haven’t shared my blog on my personal FB page because it still feels so personal and I am not too sure yet if I want anyone who I know to know I write 😉 Will keep swimming in the Community Pool though! Thanks again.

      1. I just read through your blog. I just want to encourage you and let you know that life is worth living. Pain is temporary, I think using your blog as an outlet to express your feelings is great. Despite all the things going on in your life, I just really want to encourage you to LIVE LIVE LIVE.

    1. I just finished checking out your blog John, and the only thing that confused me a bit was the Tech Reviews. Based on the other content on your site, as well as the title of your site, I think your tech reviews should perhaps be it’s own blog.

  2. I’ve been up to a lot lately. On my blog, I regularly post horror stories, but I’m also a self published author. Lately, I’ve been tossing around the idea of making my first book into an audio book. I’d love some feedback on my first recorded story if you have some time. https://augiepeterson.wordpress.com/2017/11/10/audio-drama/

Along with that exciting news, I’ve also started a series for the first time on my blog. To read part one, click here: https://augiepeterson.wordpress.com/2017/11/11/wishful-thinking-part-1/

Finally, I’ve re-formatted the Kindle edition of my first book and it now looks more professional and is a smoother read! 1. I really don’t have much advice about getting readers except participate in community pool. Since I have been doing that my readership has been growing. I will say that I really enjoyed our post.

      1. I did just a tag when looking up blogs on the basic wordpress page, but I haven’t on my site. I should figure out how to use that. What kinds of tags? Just any words to do with the kinds of things I blog?

  3. Hello all,

I have started a blog at https://whistlingfarandwee.com/, where I write comical vignettes about my dogs, post my pictures, and, perhaps more so in the future, post some of my writing. I was wondering whether the breadth of my blog is problematic. Should, for example, the dogs have their own blog, which is separate from the photos, which is separate from the writing? This seems like a lot of work, and I kind of like having just a single blog, but I don’t want to turn off portions of the audience because they only want to see one piece of it. What do you think?

    1. Hello! I checked out some of your blog. I would suggest flushing out your “About” section. I can’t speak for everyone but whenever I go to check out another blog it is the very first section I look at because it shows me where I’m going

    1. Hi Sophie, it’s a very nice looking layout! I noticed in your About section that you have a link to your first blog. That’s a great way to give more about you, but I would suggest flushing out your “About” section just a bit more in case that’s what causes a viewer to continue or click off
