Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

  1. HI everyone, I write a very lighthearted tennis blog, and since this past week was kind of slow on the tennis news, I wrote about another favorite topic…Art! Take a look and let me know what you think (is this cohesive?).

  2. I’d like to invite everyone to come by and check out my poem of the week, “Uncle Charlie (For His 82nd Birthday.” I wrote this “tribute” a few years ago and didn’t know what to do with it. A Google search informed me Manson turned 82 on Sunday, and that’s my poetry day. What better poem to post? I hope you enjoy. Comments and feedback are always welcome, and please leave them in the comments section of the post page, and click the like button on the post page. If you like what you see, feel free to browse around, and follow along so you don’t miss anything as I post several times a week. Thanks in advance.

  5. Hi guys! I’ve noticed that since I’ve been interacting more in the pool, I’ve been able to engage with way more people so if you’re wondering if the pool is worth your time- it is! My latest post is about going after what you want. For some people it’s easy to bulldoze towards what they want but for others it’s hard to not let others convince you to compromise. I’d love to know what you think: https://briwithadegree.wordpress.com/2017/11/09/making-a-list-checking-it-twice/#more-2972

    1. The pool is definitely worth it. I’ve been engaging with a few people and the side effect is positive each week I gain a couple more followers. It was not the intention but it nice to know that people actually are interested in your writings. I am a novice travel blogger.

travelling up and down the steps of the town house
so now i am at the point of do i change the name of my blog and the best way to do that.

  7. Good morning all! I would love to get any feedback on a post I spent a lot of time on and recently put up: https://goo.gl/P5XoTM on my blog: Not Enough Middle Fingers. If anyone has the chance to comment on what works, what doesn’t I would really appreciate it. I’ll have a look at some of the other questions in this pool to try to help others out as well. Thanks!:)

  9. Hi everybody. I write blogs about my recovery from alcoholism but as I have been sober for 21 plus years the topics often divert from alcoholism per se to my life in general and I how I handle things. I like to flip the with so to speak and offer non mainstream viewpoints often I like to show people another page in a story so to speak. This blog is about being a leader versus being a follower and identifying honestly which one you are.
If you read it let me know and drop me a line in the comment on my blog. I will likewise do the same. http://sobriety.blog/2017/11/10/why-its-easier-for-a-follower-to-get-sober-than-a-leader/

  10. I am struggling with how the page is set up. The pictures seem to big when you click on the blogs. I want a free flowing blog, easy to read and navigate.

    1. Hello! If you head to our Theme Showcase you can browse through the many, many themes available — including many that look great without featured images, or that don’t emphasize photos on your site’s homepage. You can preview different themes before deciding on one, too.

  12. Hi all.
I write flash fiction and poetry and I also make hats! Haven’t posted anything about any of my headgear yet and as I have only just started out with my blog, it’s nothing fancy and just a few posts. I would be very grateful of any comments really, the good, the bad (not the ugly, if you can help it). Thanks in advance,
    Katherine.

    1. Well, I’m a fan! Checked it out, commented and FOLLOWED!
I would recommend you work on your “Home” page, ’cause there seems to be an issue there.
Also, what kind of hats do you make? Like winter hats?

      1. Hi,
Firstly thanks ever so much for your comments! I mainly make fascinators – currently slow process as I work as a teacher atm too. I am a bit of a techno-phobe in terms of social media and with the wordpress platform in particular but I totally agree – I guess the writing kind of took president but promise I will work on it. Thanks so much, though. Glad you liked 🙂

    2. I like the layout of your blog; however, where is your content? All I was able to see when I clicked your link was a WordPress filler page. Have you shared any posts yet? I hope this isn’t a fluke just on my end.

      1. It is able to show up in the reader but I️ am unable to find your posts through browsing your blog. Perhaps the best solution would be to search through the WP help? 🙂
