To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Hello, I only just discovered this feature yesterday and posted a little late to the party, hope you don’t mind me posting today? Feel free to remove if not!

I posted my first blog about 2 weeks ago, I am a hobby photographer so I am currently concentrating on that for my first few blog posts, I do plan on having a mini series on signing up, training and running my first marathon this year. There will also be some random blogs based on any experiences I have.

Feel free to pass on any feedback, the aim will be to improve my blog as I go, feedback would be helpful in that process!

My first post can be found here:

    Hope you enjoy!

  2. Hey. I am pretty new to blogging. I decided when I gave up my decade long teaching career to be a stay at home mom that I wanted to focus on my writing. So, I created my blog that has a mixture of articles about parenting, poetry, and short stories. Check out this flash fiction inspired by yesterdays one-word prompt droll and then take a look around my site. Any likes and comments would be very appreciated.

      1. Hi, Ruby! Thanks so much for supporting new folks here — we appreciate it, and I know they do, too!

We’d ask that you not post links to your new posts with each comment; we try to keep this space as focused as we can on the new folks, and the repeated links distract from that. Don’t worry — if you’re leaving supportive comments, folks are sure to visit you regardless! Thanks 🙂

    1. Hello!
I read your recent post. I absolutely love how effectively and boldly you have brought forward the fact that people do not think twice before claiming to have OCD (even when they don’t know exactly what it is).
I like your writing style! Having OCD yourself, it’s courageous of you to let your readers know how it feels to be diagnosed with it.
      Best of luck!🍀

  3. Hello Everyone, I just started blogging in this last month. I know many people in my life including myself who have struggled with depression and I believe it is thought of as a dirty word in too many circles. I want to talk about it open and honestly as much as I can. Please check out my blog and leave some comments. Here was my first post. I try to post daily so I love the support of followers as well 😀 https://letstalkdepress.com/2017/10/10/first-blog-post/

      1. Thank you so much for your concern, Mark. Dengue’s definitely not something you can easily get rid of… symptoms may sustain upto 3 to 4 weeks! I’m happy to know that you enjoyed reading it.

      1. Thank you so much for the read. Actually, dengue is the disease and what we call here ‘dengue fever’ is the fever specifically caused by dengue. In my case, the day I needed 4 blankets on. Hope that helps. I really wasn’t expecting this one to be interesting. Thank you.

      1. I liked your blog So much! It is surprising to me how small phrases can make you feel something in such a way you feel inspired and you want to do something about It. I started my blog in some way to Focus on what i like and not on things that were distracting me, So here i am, i really appreciate your comment, i will keep posting things like the sushi and i will keep watching your posts!

      1. Hi. There is a translation button you can add so everyone can read your posts. Being new, I can’t remember if it’s a widget. Maybe someone here with more experience can direct you. 🙂

    1. well written, relationships are tough trying to keep each other happy sometimes. I’ve had some tough experiences in my lifetime as well. I think you did a great job describing the relationship you had with her, and the amount of attention you said she required. I think it was awesome that you didn’t point out just her flaws, but also flaws that you have. I also liked the way you ended the post with a prayer.

Great job, keep up the good work. Following your blog right now!

    1. One thing I noticed — you’re using a lot of tags on some of your posts. The WordPress.com Reader actually filters out posts that use more than 15 tags and categories (combined) as an anti-spam measure, so using this many tags actually makes it harder for folks to find your posts, which is sad! If you cut your tags down to the most relevant, you’ll actually draw more readers.

An easy way to start cutting down: get rid of super-general tags like “blog” or “job.” Think more specifically about your post and what it’s really about, and think about what *you* would search for to find a post like this.
