You can receive notifications of new blog posts from any WordPress.com blog via the popular instant messaging service Telegram. Use the JetpackWP Telegram Bot to promote your own blog posts or stay up to date with other blogs you subscribe to.
Receive new post notifications thanks to the JetpackWP Telegram Bot. Follow these steps to invite the bot to your channel or group chats:
- Tap the channel* or group chat name at the top of the screen, then click the pen icon in the upper right corner:
*Use Telegram’s mobile app or their Windows desktop app to add the bot to channels.
2. Tap on Administrators and then Add Admin (for a group chat, click Add Members) and search “jetpackwp”:
3. Review what the bot can do as an admin, then click the checkmark icon:
4. You will see a confirmation message that you have added JetpackWP.
Once the bot has admin access to the channel, it’s time to subscribe to your blog (or any other Jetpack-powered blog that you’d like to subscribe to in your channel). To do this, type /follow and the URL of your desired blog:
To start receiving Telegram notifications for a blog, type the following command as a new message in your channel or group chat:
/follow [URL]
For example, to receive notifications for the official WordPress.com blog, type /follow https://blog.wordpress.com and send the message:
You will then receive a confirmation message saying you are subscribed to the blog.
Each time a new post is published on this blog, the link will be shared in the channel or group chat automatically.
Once you have added the bot to a channel or group chat, you can interact with it using the following commands:
/follow [url]– This will subscribe to the blog specified in the URL./unfollow [url]– This will unsubscribe from the blog specified in the URL. No more notifications of new posts will be sent./following– This will show a list of all blogs subscribed to./reset– This stops subscribing to all blogs via the Telegram bot.
