Change Your Payment Frequency

Your WordPress.com plan and other purchases can be paid for in different intervals. This guide will explain the options available and show you how to switch from monthly to annual or multi-year payments and vice versa.

Payment Frequencies

Pay for your WordPress.com plan in one-year, two-year, and three-year installments. You can also pay monthly. However, the price per month is higher than if you were to pay for a year upfront. Most people expect to run their site for at least a year, so paying annually is cheaper in the long run.

You can pay for Professional Email or Google Workspace on a monthly or annual schedule.

Domain fees are per year and cannot be paid monthly.

Switch From Monthly to Annual Payments

WordPress.com offers monthly, annual and multi-year plans. To switch your plan’s payment frequency to a longer term (monthly to annual, or annual to multi-year), follow these steps:

  1. Click on your profile at https://wordpress.com/me.
  2. On the side, select the Purchases menu option:
  1. Select your plan.
  2. Scroll down below the plan information and click “Upgrade plan“:
An arrow points to the Upgrade plan button.
  1. On the next screen, select the payment term you want to upgrade to from the drop-down menu (yearly, two years, or three years).
  2. Click the “Upgrade to…” button.
  3. Continue to checkout to complete your purchase.

You will receive a prorated upgrade credit for the unused portion of your existing plan. The credit is calculated based on the remaining time, and you will see the credit applied to the payment due on the checkout page.
