Hi there,
Do you have any specific questions about using WordPress? We’ll be able to give more detailed answers if you give more specific questions.
If not, there are a few steps to get going outlined below.
I am looking at starting a on line business.
You may wish to use a business-related theme, in that case. Check out business-related themes at https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/business
Its here a link to walk me through the steps using WordPress… ?
Don’t forget you can check out WordPress webinars at https://wordpress.com/webinars/
You can also look at https://wordpress.com/learn/ to get started.Once you’ve made a domain name and started your website, there will be a list of steps (including customising your home page) on the My Home page to do with setting up your website.
If you want to edit what’s written on a page, go to My Site > Site > Pages and select the page you want to edit.
There’s a support post on this: https://wordpress.com/support/pages/#edit-a-page
If you want to go to the Customiser, you can go to My Site > Design > Customise.
The support post about customising your website is https://wordpress.com/support/customize/.
You can also check out video tutorials on customisation at https://wordpress.com/support/video-tutorials/customize-your-site/If you’re not sure whether audiences will find your site interesting, one idea might be to set your site to Private, give access to it to people you know who have a WordPress account, and ask for their feedback. (You can still do this if your site is Public, obviously, but if you’re not quite ready for that yet you can give certain people access to your Private site.)
One way to get more traffic (to a site set to Public) is by using keywords, adding tags and posting regularly. You can check out the support posts on this:
https://wordpress.com/support/posts/categories-vs-tags/tagging-tips/
https://wordpress.com/support/topics/
https://wordpress.com/support/getting-more-views-and-traffic/Upgrades offer different features which may help with making your site more interesting. If you want to learn more about upgrading your plan, you can head to My Site > Plans or read the support post at https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/.
If you want to try out features of the paid plans, that will require you to upgrade, but WordPress offers a full 30-day refund on all plans if you aren’t happy with it.If you’re having trouble getting started in general, there are other tutorials to have a look at:
https://wordpress.com/support/video-tutorials/Or look at the support pages on setting up your site:
https://wordpress.com/support/five-step-website-setup/ (also https://wordpress.com/support/five-step-blog-setup/)
Also have a look at https://wordpress.com/learn/ if you need further advice. If you need help with using Blocks, there’s a support post on this:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/#blocks
Post any questions or suggestions on the forum thread https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/feedback-thread-for-the-block-editor/.Alternatively, you can type in what you’re having trouble with into the search bar on the support page:
https://wordpress.com/support/I hope this helps!
Just a reminder that this forum is for WordPress.com hosted websites. If you use the open-source WordPress software, you’ll need to go to their forum to get help: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the WordPress software you can read the support post:
