First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Good morning everyone!
Started this blog a few days ago. It’s something that I have been aiming to do for a while now.
I’m mostly focusing on threats online, from malware to connected toys.

My first blog post was about the “Adult Swine” malicious code that was found in several android apps for children.

“Adult Swine” – found in apps for children

Unfortunately, the number of people that actually check what apps their children install is still too small. Maybe, there are persons that would be interested in reading and finding our about topics such as this one.

    Have great day!

      1. I am glad that you find it interesting. What I am trying to do is gather information about online threats and condense them into something more easier to read.
Coming back to children and tech, unfortunately… many parents are not fully aware about the risks that lurk online. This is especially true in the cases in which the online services are considered safe. We use to forget that nothing is perfect, and that there are persons who would do anything for money.

  2. Hi everyone,
I just started posting on this platform and never really managed a blog. Still trying to figure it out.
I decided to do it when I realized that as a single girl you go through so many different stages in your life due to so many experiences… I realized that so many single people feel lonely and feel the pressure of being single as time goes by, and have so much in common… same concerns and fears… same experience pattern… so I decided to share my thoughts not only on that but on a more broad of subjects.
    Thanks 🙂

    1. Hi, I wouldn’t call it crap . . .it’s a beginning! The red is quite striking when you click into your site – however when you add your other posts I’m sure it will look just perfect. You don’t have an about page – however you very first post would make an excellent about page. 🙂 Keep it up! 🙂

  4. Hello everyone.

I started my blog around August time. I am a drug and alcohol worker and planned to use it as a platform to share my experiences of substance misuse, from the perspective of a worker. See my first post:

    https://diariesofadrugworker.wordpress.com/2017/08/16/first-blog-post/

However, I only posted 3 times last year and as of January 2018, I made the decision to include general lifestyle posts in addition to work-related ones.

This has allowed me to be a lot more free and open on my blog and this month for me is really the beginning.

I am very new to blogging, both reading and writing posts. Please have a look and any feedback is appreciated.

You might try following some lifestyle and renovation blogs similar to yours so that you can develop a strong support group. I just started as well and it has been so helpful to me to find people with similar interests. You’re doing great so far!

    1. Do you plan on blogging in English? Your About page says “Over” and seems to be in German (?). Please edit the contents of that about page, as well as the text widget on the side.

  5. Hello, am Sandhya. I don’t belong to tech savvy young generation. But still I have tried to write something other than my mother tongue. This is my first time in English. It’s because of my daughters and granddaughter I have landed on WordPress.

    1. I see you’re restarting your old blog. Welcome! But spend a bit of time polishing it. The first default post, the text widget, remembering to title every post so that it’s easier to distinguish them, etc.
