Community Pool

The place for feedback, advice, and friendly blogging chatter.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. You may want to split your story into paragraphs, break them at just the right spot to not break the rhythm…
And you should get your posts proof-read by a third person so grammatical errors are not there…
PS: check out my blog and let me know what you think

    2. Amrita…I visited your blog, and liked and commented on several of your posts. I see the makings of a strong, opinionated blogger/writer. You have the potential to be the highest and best you can be.

May I suggest you give your writings a tweak here and there. How do you spell Positive? Does it need another letter in it? How do site visitors get from your About page back to your Home page?

Are you familiar with formatting? Would you like your posts to be read all the way through, then liked, and commented on? Whatever your blog means to you is translated to your site visitors, so how much does your blog mean to you?

Make your blog represent the highest quality it can because that’s how much it means to you!

    1. I sense you enjoy writing. I see lots of potential in your writing, and a bit of dry humor too. Of course, that’s me the optimist writing this comment. Your blog could have a few more pictures on it, and I’m not sure what point there is to having your image on the blog when we can’t see your face. I suspect you have lots more to throw our way, so I hope you put Netflix on the back burner for a few hours before bed, and write some more. Good stuff!

    1. Hello! Creating a pingback simply means copying the URL of the post you want to link to — like a Daily Prompt or a Photo Challenge — and pasting it into your post (alternatively, you can use the URL in a hyperlink in your post — that’s when a word or a sentence in your post is a clickable link to the other post). You can read more about pingbacks here:

    1. I really liked how short and sweet the posts where but every once in awhile give your reader a longer post about some events in your life. I would like it if you checked out my blog

    2. Really like the blog format and visuals. Maybe expand the depth of your posts – try the one word prompts that The Daily Post puts out on WordPress?!

  2. Hi! I’m a foodie and love tasty and nutritious food. Fresh fruits and vegetables are my favorites. I have written a post about goodness of kiwifruit. Please check it and give your feedback. I share various recipes. I have slightly changed the format of my recipe posts. What do you think of it? Thanks 😊

    1. I became hungry just by looking at your Chenna Masala. YUMM!!!! The ‘How to select’ portion of the Kiwi fruit was especially useful and unique too. I have never found that on other blogs. You may want to try a different layout, one that accentuates the photos, not that there is anything wrong with this one.
Maybe you could add a few photos in between steps if they do not interfere with the printer friendly version of your posts?
      Keep blogging!!!!
BTW, check out this travel blog by my wife and me and let me know what you think

    2. I really learned a lot about kiwi! I like your style, you answered all of the questions I never knew I had about the fruit!

I’m also super interested in nutrition. Consider checking out my blog, thatpeganlife.wordpress.com

      1. Thanks for the kind comments Jessica…I hope I reached the correct site. You have not given the complete link of the site and I google searched and reached thatpeganlife.
Though I am not a vegan, but I prefer to eat nutritious food, and try to incorporate healthy ingredients in my food. Through my food journey I came to know about the goodness of kiwifruit. Nature has given us so many healthy options, but somehow in our quest for something new and unique, we have started eating many unhealthy and artificial food items that play havoc with our health. I hope to learn about nutrition and health from your blog.

    1. I looked at both your posts. I liked and commented. I hope I didn’t overlook your About page. You do have one don’t you? It’s typically one of the first places site visitors click to. We want to get to know the authors (in your cases), behind the post.

I also wondered what you would carry to eat and drink on such jaunts. Maybe you might consider a post about your vegan lifestyle too; definitely an About. Your travels do indeed look fascinating. Nice shares!

So feedback on the post would be nice and if you have a post that id similar or handles encouraging people feel free to share the link because I really want to help people and to do that I need to first know how to write.

  5. Hi All! My name is Jessica and I am blogging about my journey to wellness through nutrition and my pegan (paleo + vegan) diet! I would appreciate any/all feedback you’re willing to share. Just recently I’ve managed to increase my daily number of views, but if you have any tips on that as well, I’d be eternally grateful!

  6. If anyone here is a country music fan, or interested in following someone who is relentless in pursuing her dreams… please check out my blog! My About page has some great posts about why I started the blog. I’ve been actively blogging for a couple years now, yet I can’t seem to get many readers and I’m not sure why. I try to stay away from newsy events and make my blog more of my personal journey. I was hoping others might take an interest in my crazy adventures in the music industry, but I have read a lot of advice sites that I need to post content that people find useful. I suppose me getting closer to my dreams daily isn’t useful content?

  9. Hi all!

I’m just going to be real honest and say that I am a rather “forgetful blogger” but I am constantly writing things down and ideas so every now and then I write something I feel could be an interesting topic. I usually write something based on nostalgia or with some sentimental quality to it. I would love to change that and know what some people think of my blog and what I should change or if I should write more?

    1. Well I had to hold my hand up over my screen while I scrolled so to avoid CA:CW spoilers (I’m Canadian) but I liked your blog. I suggest changing the header to something else to make the page more personalized!

      1. Thanks for stopping by, yes my header is something I’ve been meaning to change for a while but I keep being lazy and putting it off. It’s weird that North America are the last ones to get new Marvel films!

  11. I just recently decided to turn my blog into a business blog instead of just my personal blog. I’m keeping all the posts I have done so far, however, but I’ll be focusing more on my life coaching and personal development subject matter. Check it out if you like, I’m interested to know what people think. 🙂
