Using old editor

My great gran would have sai go raibh maith agat. ;) However, she was a warrior princess too. lol :D

For instance the name Rellick, if you go to the blog below and categories you will see how many names there are but in the new editor there are only about 15.
https://poetscornerblog.wordpress.com/In the new editor, we load the top 100 tags and categories when you load the new editor. Then, when you click in the field, we display a dropdown list of the first 20 in alphabetical order. When you type, we sort that field and display any matching items within the 100 that are loaded. So, if a category or tag is not within the top 100 on your site, you will not see it either in the dropdown menu or as an autocomplete suggestion. However, you can still add it manually (type out “Rellick” for example), and it will get added to the post like normal.

I appreciate your help jeremeylduvall and your answers, but as I expected the answer is no, the new editor will never have the total authors that’s in the old one.
Thank you, Harry.

Hi Harry,
To clarify a bit, all authors on your site should be able to use the new editor. However, it seems as though you’ve created a new category for each author. If you have over 100 categories, you will not see all of the categories in the new editor.

Several times in the 30 pages of related comments, you’ll find references to the following workaround written by WP user tPenguinLTG.First, you’ll need to install the browser extension GreaseMonkey for Firefox or TamperMonkey for Chrome. Then go to https://tpenguinltg.wordpress.com/2015/03/14/a-hack-to-use-the-classic-editor-in-wordpress-com/ and click “Install” near the top of the page (following third paragraph) to install the user script. (Not as intimidating as you might think. Just ignore all the code farther down the page.) Thereafter, whenever you start a new post or click to edit an existing one, you’ll be automatically forwarded past the new editor and on to the classic editor.

@ jeremeylduvall I know a lot like me hate the new editor but we have to get on with it although I have just used the work round.
Yes each author has their own category, mine is the third blog I know has this system. I don’t know any other way.
-
@ windwhistle, thank you I have seen that link before but I don’t use firefox or chrome I use yahoo.

dear jeremeylduvall
I’ll tell you why the new editor is bad. It is because the most important data input box must be the text box and for some reason this appears at the very bottom of the screen (when logically it should be at the top) and it is squashed up into a little input box which is virtually useless for writing or editing.
You keep telling us how good this new editor is but surely I don’t have to point out this obvious failing in the product.
Add to that the endless scrolling (again) and the comical layout of the screen is it any wonder that hundreds of serious bloggers are totally dissatisfied with this incompetent downgrade? -
@apetcher- The broken layout (with the text input dropping to the bottom of the screen) is certainly not the intended appearance. We’re working on getting this fixed! If you have any other trouble, could you please open a new thread using this link?

I assume you’re trying to separate out the posts by author. When you add a new author to your site, we already create an author page for them. The URL will look something like this:
https://example.wordpress.com/author/jeremeylduvall/
Just sub out “example” for your site address and “jeremeylduvall” for the username. That way, you don’t have to use separate categories for each author.

Dear jeremeylduvall
If you know that it doesn’t work and it is riddled with bugs then why release it as an upgrade.
If you know that it doesn’t work and it is riddled with bugs then why can’t you keep a link to classic editor at least until it is fixed? -
Hi there,
I think I may be able to help you a little with this as I use the classic editor myself.

Thanks, I appreciate that.
I have no real problem finding the classic editor but I remain frustrated by the amateurish nature of the so called upgrades. Untested and riddled with bugs. It is like Ford launching a new car model without a steering wheel or brakes and then telling everyone what a good product it is!
Hopeless, quite hopeless! -

The classic editor was perfect. As for the new one it is as though someone has deliberately driven a Ferrari into a brick wall and totalled it. Please listen WP!
