Switch to classic editor
-
Hello. I have seen on other forum topics that WP admin staff are able to switch editors from Gutenberg to Classic for free accounts. Will you please do this for this account? I have significant experience with Gutenberg and prefer the classic editor. I do not ever wish to use Gutenberg. Thank you for your time.

We have tips for transitioning from the classic editor to blocks https://wordpress.com/support/switching-from-the-classic-to-the-block-editor/ and FAQs: https://wordpress.com/support/replacing-the-older-wordpress-com-editor-with-the-wordpress-block-editor/#frequently-asked-questions
And, if you really want to use something like the classic editor, we recommend sticking with the classic block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
We also have some extensive documentation available at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/
If you have any feedback on the new editor, we’re always looking for ways to improve it, so please let us know!

Thank you. This does not solve my issue.
Are you able to switch my account to the classic editor per my original request?
I am extremely familiar with Gutenburg and do not wish to use it.

Hi there,
You can still access the Classic Editor if you switch to Classic View. Here’s how to do that:

Thank you. I do not have “Classic View” as an option in the upper right hand corner or otherwise so I am unable to follow these instructions.
Is there another path?
-
The classic view option should just take you to this page:
https://netherworldpostprivate.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.phpTap the arrow next to New and you should see a classic post option.
Hoping this helps!
Also, I do want to point out that while the Classic Editor is here for now, it likely will be dropped completely at some point. And that’s not something our forums staff really has control over.
But, if we know what problems and pain points you’re having with blocks, we can make sure to report those issues.

@supernovia — thank you, I see it now. Having the link resolved this perfectly.
Thank you for the notice of the likely eventual ending of Classic View.
The pain points I have with the blocks lay in the excess of code the bring and the reduction of functionality — from small things like “select all” now grabbing the block but not the entire text to large things like code enlargement for simple tasks and structures.
I have been using WordPress since the early 2000s when it was new. I find the forced abandonment of this user experience to be disheartening when it functions extremely well in a light level environment.
With respect and admiration of your work for nearly 20 years together, I ask you all to review this decision.
Regardless of what happens — I do thank you all.
May the web continue to build and serve us all.

Thanks.
from small things like “select all” now grabbing the block but not the entire text
You’d like to grab all of the text and images for the post, correct? Right now, if I click in a block I can select all for the block. If I’ve clicked somewhere else on the page so I’m not in a single block, select all really does select everything in the post or page. Are you seeing that too?
There has also been an issue about grabbing partial text between two blocks, and I know that one is being fixed soon.
to large things like code enlargement for simple tasks and structures
Could you share an example of something you find egregious?
