Options for monetizing a wordpress.com blog

I’ll stick a Modlook tag on it and hopefully someone will get around to it. I’ve seen worse, but it’s not exactly what I want to look at first thing in the morning.

Mark,
I also think you got the right one.More generally, if the main point of your blog is $, then wp.com isn’t the best place for it. You can generate a little money with affiliate programs (Amazon being the obvious example). That’s more along the lines of covering the cost of upgrades (CSS, domain, etc.) than of making much extra dough.

Thanks Mark!
Andrew,
Now I’m a little confused. Are you suggesting that I can earn a little money on a WP.com blog but not a lot of money or is it a question of the way money is earned?
-
That is my understanding as well. I know that I put out word of my blogging classes via my blogs and staff has no issue with that. But I typically do between 1-4 other posts a day on my blog as well, so it’s a matter of context.

Andrew,
Can you define “affiliate links”?
I ask because teach at a small-medium sized non-profit school. I use my blog for a variety purposes, but I do link to school bookstore and they’re planning to set up a rewards system. May I do this on my wp.com blog?

i’m a beginner in terms of blogging and i have joined several marketing affiliate networks. could i make a page out of my referral links? am i risking my blog to deletion in case i make that page?
-
Keep the page as a draft. I would expect they will disallow it, and it’s not worth getting reported in the meantime. Staff can look at private and Draft pages easily.

Wait my blog was danieldickey.wordpress.com…it is now just DanielDickey.com but it fowards to my wordpress. Am I able to put adsense on it? Please it’s driving me nuts. Any info would be wonderful.

I have recently been contacted regarding blog post sponsorship following one of my posts. I am using the free wordpress platform. Is this legal here? Can I remain on this platform or would I need to change to the other wordpress? Any advice? My blog is http://www.aftercancernowwhat.wordpress.com if you need to review.

Can you contact Support with all the details please? As a rule we do not allow things like this but given your blog there might be room to move.
