How do I manually create a social share link?
-
Hi there, so on my website I created a custom HTML social share buttons. It’s something I’ve never done before. I created the social share buttons on a template page which will be published once I add new blog posts to my website. So the problem that I’m facing is that I can’t add a specific url to the social share button as the urls will vary when i post blog posts. Therefore I need a shortcode or argument or something that will replace the page url to the current web page url everytime I add a blog post. Basically a way to replace the url of the social share link for each post. Just like on a social share button.
Can anyone please help me with this? I have searched the internet and I can’t seem to get it right.
Thanks,

Hi @lielowspark,
Depending on the code that you used, this might not work on the free plan. If you were looking to create a shortcode, you can do this using a plugin on a Business plan or higher. You can review plan features and pricing here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Otherwise, there are a few other ways to create social sharing button, as well as linking to your social media pages/profiles:
* https://wordpress.com/support/sharing/
* https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/social-links-block/
* https://wordpress.com/support/menus/social-links-menu/Hope that helps!
