Free website option for my domain
-
Hello! I would like to ask how much longer I would need to wait before I can use my domain to create a WordPress website for free without changing my existing website name? The site tells me I would need to wait 60 days in total to have that option but as some time has already passed, is there a way for me to check how much time is remaining that I still need to wait?
Best regards,

Hi,
I understand that you are trying to transfer the domain standbymode.app to WordPress.com so you can start a new site with us.
The domain standbymode.app was registered on April 14, 2024, as you can see here: https://wordpress.com/site-profiler/standbymode.app which has the usual 60-day lock for new registrations.
This means the domain will be ready to be transferred on June 13, 2024.
In any case, you can create a new site and connect the domain today by following this: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/ so you can start working on your new site already.
Then you can transfer the domain to us once the transfer lock is disabled: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/incoming-domain-transfer/
Let me note that the domain transfer would be free with the purchase of any of our paid plans. Here is info on the different plans: https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/Also, for pricing and a handy plan comparison table, see: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Let us know if you need further assistance, and we’ll be happy to help! -
Due to ICANN-regulation you can’t transfer a site to another registrar the first 60 days after registration, but you can always connect your domain to your wordpress.com site – https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
To do so you must have a paid plan. If you stick to a free site, you can only forward your custom domain but visitors will see the URL of your wordpress.com subdomain – https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-forwarding/
