Editing

  • My site tagline has disappeared. I already checked Settings and Appearance – it is formatted in both places to show up.

Also, How do I get rid of the ‘home’ block title on the home page?

    WP.com: Yes

  • Hi there!

The Publication theme doesn’t display the site tagline. You can check the theme demo and you’ll notice no tagline shows up there either. You’ll need to choose a different theme if you need to display the site tagline.

The page title can be hidden by custom CSS code. You can use custom CSS code on your site by upgrading to the WordPress.com Premium plan or higher. If you decide to upgrade, you can contact us to get the CSS code to hide the page title. Learn more about our plans and pricing here: https://wordpress.com/pricing

A workaround is to remove the actual page title (Home) from the page itself. It may result in an empty space showing up in its place, but if you want to hide the Home text without upgrading and using CSS code, this might be the only way.

    Hope that helps!

  • Thanks, aisajib – I appreciate your help.

I did try to remove the page title but it then shows up on the menu bar it as a defaulted name.

  • Hi there,

You can address that by editing the text of the menu tabs. They can actually be written to say anything you like instead of the page title.

To do that go here: https://wordpress.com/customize/

Then click on the menus tab and rename you menu items. This is difficult to explain in words, so I recorded a quick video to show you how to do it.

    Hope this helps!

  • It worked. Thanks so much.
