i notice that editing a post to add content to it has become extremely difficult. older images no longer show, wordpress doesn’t display half of them and the last added image remains numbered as ‘1’, instead of being added to whatever preexisted? HELP, PLEASE

yet another example of something that worked perfectly well and that is now all messed up. i’ve spent hours trying to solve that huge glitch that didn’t use to exist, even installed the new editor i didn’t want to see if it would make things work again, but no such luck. no simple way anymore to just add a new element to an existing post. incredible.

@elliottsmithgallery, for editing existing posts, you’re welcome to use the classic editor if you prefer. This is a good option if you’ve got complex edits, like your own HTML. As I mentioned in our feedback post on the new editor:
If you really want to use the classic editor, it is still available. We also have tips for transitioning from the Classic Editor to Blocks, and FAQs.
Regarding missing images, it looks like you deleted several images recently. They won’t show up in posts if you delete them, so if that was not your intention I’d recommend re-adding those as needed.
