Cookie banner won't go away :(
-
Sorry, but I don’t know what you mean with “ads”. Other Widgets?
I still don’t understand you. What good is it to install two routines for one function? No wonder they’re obstructing each other. -
Ads means advertisements. All sites with advertisements have to have a cookie banner of sorts, whether the site owner enables their own version of a cookie policy or not.
We are trying to work out why there’s a conflict when site owners enable their own policy through a widget.
-
Ok, I understand. So, make it easy. Don’t look where this two have a conflict. Remove one. Then give the users the possibility to add a translation and a link to their own privacy policy to the banner. Don’t make it so complicated.

Here is an example of the strange widget format in my theme (Hexa):

And it also does not disappear after being clicked.

Thank you all for reporting this. We’ll update this thread when we have more information on the issue.

@giuseppemerlino: the WP-banner or the cookies & consent banner?
My problem is not solved. -
Sorry, but I have the same problem. Old widget was installed few years ago, but this is a new problem!
When I try to see my Mozilla Firefox list of coohies, it seems that YOU DON’T installed the cookie: sensitive_pixel_option
(Only on my subdomain: smro.wordpress – it works on ALL other Automattic sites!)
I think this is the problem and this problem you must fix!
Thank You!
PS: I hope this cookie is a WordPress domain cookie and NOT a third party cookie.
My Firefox is set to: third party cookies = only from visited! -
@franziskarudnick The staff had said that my theme was too old and they could hardly solve my problem, but they seem to have managed to repair. The banner that I edited translating it into Italian is no longer fixed at the end of the page, but it is always visible, even scrolling the page, until you click on the “Close and accept” button.

My site’s https://leavingorbit.wordpress.com/ , and I’ve got the same problem. I tried to add a widget with modified (German) text and a link to my own privacy policy. (I need to, because I’m using an additional stats tool.) It seemed like I was able save those settings, but I can’t make that modified banner appear, try as I might.
Instead, I see a fine line, and below that the standard cookie & consent banner by WordPress. Which refuses to disappear and only does one thing: Reload every page it shows up on. Again, and again, and again. Moving the widget around doesn’t help either. Nor does using another browser where I’m not logged in.
I have now deleted that personalized widget, but am not happy with this solution, as it makes it impossible to link to my own privacy policy like I should.
Thanks & regards,
Ute

Mein Problem mit dem Banner ist auch noch nicht gelöst. Es geht weder weg noch lässt es sich individuell anpassen.
-
My problem with the banner is not solved yet. It does not go away nor can it be adjusted individually.
We’re actively working on fixing it. Thank you for your patience!

Hi, I also have this bug.. i tried to change the theme and the incognito mode, but the problem persist, i don’t have plugins activated https://nelgiardinodirosita.wordpress.com
Help please!

@recuperocose have you tried the recommendations above? If you haven’t customized your banner, the easiest fix is to remove the widget and allow the default banner to run.
