Bandwidth capacity for free WordPress site
-
Hi, I hope to start a free WordPress site. I would like to know how much bandwidth capacity this website has. Also, how many visitors per day/month can it support with ease if it will attract many people?
-
Hey @philemonngeno, we got you: there’s currently no bandwidth limit, and we handle plenty of traffic without a problem.
The free sites do have a 3GB file limit, and any audio/video streaming you do needs to be embedded from supported sites (like youtube, soundcloud, etc). More info here:
https://wordpress.com/support/audio/
https://wordpress.com/support/videos/For your mobile visitors’ sake, keeping your page download sizes reasonable is always a good plan. So we auto-resize uploaded images for you, and we offer built-in AMP capabilities:

Thanks for the reply.
I have another question
I need to create multiple comment sections for each post that I make. The sections run down vertically without an end starting from the middle of the page. On top of the page I can post text or images then users can comment below. -
Hi there,
To clarify, you want a comment section for every post you make, or are you wanting multiple comment sections for the same post? Also, are you essentially wanting comment threading, where each comment and be responded to and branched off into their own reply thread?
-
Hello,
Yes, please answer me along the three areas highlited in your response because that’s is essentially what I need for my website.
Also, I would like to know if I can combine two or three comments plugins like jetpack and no comment plugins
-
Free sites include Jetpack’s free features and then some, but you wouldn’t be able to install other plugins without a Business Plan. Also I’m not sure how those two comments plugins would interact: Jetpack typically will defer to your other plugin’s settings where there’s any question.
Here are all of the comment features we support by default:
https://wordpress.com/support/category/site/comments/Each post can have comments (typically on the single post page), or you can disable the comments on your post if needed.
The comments can be threaded up to 10 levels deep (we suggest 3) :
https://wordpress.com/support/comment-display-options/If you wanted to use the threading to help set up your sections, that may work, but I can’t think of another way to divide comments into different sections on the same post.
I’m not sure I fully understand what end result you’d like, but I hope that helps! If you can link us to a site that does what you’re intending, we might have a clearer idea of what you’re hoping for, too.

I need to restrict access to some section for paid subscription by people in Kenya.
Is this possible with the free WordPress site?
-
Hello! I believe that,, referring to this article from WordPress.com, it is not possible without a paid plan.
One effective way to put your content behind a paywall is with the Payments Block, which connects with Stripe and allows you to collect recurring subscription payments, one-time purchases, and donations. This feature is available with all our paid plans. If you’ve got a Personal or Premium plan, you can set up a paywall on your WordPress.com site today!
If you do not need strict rules and have to provide access to a small number of users, you may try to lock your content with a password, handle payments in another way, and then provide your users with the password manually. But this is obviously a useless solution if you have to lock different sections for a lot of users. If you want to lock sections behind a paywall, the optimal solution would be using “Payments Block”.
I wish you an awesome day!

Thanks for the info.
Is it true that commenting on posts older than 14 days are automatically turned off and only replies are possible after that? Also, what are the best ways to create shareable links for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Google+ on my website?

Hello there,
Is it true that commenting on posts older than 14 days are automatically turned off and only replies are possible after that?
That doesn’t sound accurate. Commenting is possible from the get go unless specified.
Also, what are the best ways to create shareable links for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Google+ on my website?
Please see how to set up sharing buttons here: https://wordpress.com/support/sharing/
I hope this helps.
-
Thanks a lot for your support.
Please advise me on the simplest way to add more buttons on the menu on the home page to allow for quick navigation if I have several post categories in my blog.
-
You can customize your menu by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/menus/
-
-
You can view your options for email here:
https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/
NOTE: you would need a domain and a paid WordPress.com plan to add a custom email address to your site. You can review the different plan options here:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Paid plans also get priority email support and on Premium plans and above, you’ll have access to 1:1 live chat support.
I hope that helps!

If I uploaded my photo to the avatar on my dashboard would it be visible to my website users?
-
it would be visible only if you embedded it somewhere on your site using a shortcode or a widget.
-
Do you mean that I have to do the same for every image I need to include in pages and posts?
-
How and where your avatar image displays is also based on the theme you are using. There is a lot of flexibility on where you can place your avatar image. Our recommendation is to begin building out your site and then decide where your avatar image best fits.

You’ll add images to your posts with the Image Block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/image-block/
