Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. I clicked on the third link and it worked.
I like the overall aura of your blog but at one instance it became niche specific. Like it initiated from generality and gradually moved towards specific audiences (or i can say south-indian audience).
      Nonetheless, good effort.
It was nice visiting your blog
      Regards,

      1. First of all thanks a lot for stopping by✨
Coming to the point that you mentioned, basically my blog doesn’t have a specific direction. I personally do not want it to be confined to a certain broad topic. Maybe certain posts were meant for the Indian audience, but overall I aim to be as general as possible.

Anyway, I’m so glad you visited my blog and shared your thoughts!✨
        Thank you!

  2. Good morning from Oklahoma! I am a fairly new blogger and would love some feedback on my website. I am having a hard time creating different pages, I recently transferred from Wix which is incredibly simple in terms of directory through the website. When I create a new page it gives me very little functionality. Do I need to go back to .html basics and actually create my own buttons? I also feel that some of my blog posts are cut a little short. I can admit I’ve been kind of pumping them out to get content out and re-editing them as I go. Thanks xx mal

    1. Great post! I did notice that you have lots of tags. WordPress anti-spam filters kick in with more than 15 combined tags and categories. This will stop search engines from finding your work.
      Hope this helps 🙂

    2. Hey! I’ve just checked out your blog, your blog and content look lovely, you gained a new follower from me! On your blog header all the words are sitting on top of eat other so you’re unable to read them. I also couldn’t see an “about” page? Otherwise great & look forward to reading more! 🙂

  4. (Written by Genetic Learning)

Hello! I’m just another blogger, hoping to teach others about genetics and GMOs. I made my blog to help with this goal, but my views have plummeted for a couple weeks. Nowadays, I’m lucky if I can get 10 views and more than 2 visitors. I would appreciate any feedback and always would like suggestions. If you’ve noticed that I haven’t posted much lately, I’ve been very busy and have been cramming to study for tests. I’m always trying to write, so just know that chances are, I’m trying to write a post. Hope I see you on my blog!

    1. Awesome blog. I am a genetics enthusiast. Personally I feel the blog very informative. Simple language and short posts should be your target. Long posts with more science will tire the readers of non-science background.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ve been thinking about shortening and having a slightly more laid-back kind of style. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts, I didn’t know if trying it out would make me seem like a little kid.

      2. Hello there!! Looks like you have a BLUE PLANET of your own there. Your writing is neat. I would recommend you to add colourful Pics in the post other than the featured image. Everyone will love to watch sea creatures. For Example, you could have added some images to explain bio-luminescence. Pics register in mind faster than words.
        Good blog. I followed.

  7. Hi fellow bloggers!! I usually write on Fridays about finding my French Charming. I still had so many stories to share about bad boyfriends, disastrous dates, and horrible husbands (yes there was more than one). So I started something new “The Wrongs that led to Mr. Right” to go back and tell those stories without making everyone wait a lifetime to find out about French Charming. Today was the first post in this series.

The Wrongs that led to Mr. Right – More Sauce Please

    I would love any feedback!!
    Happy Monday 😘

    1. Hey, I just checked out your blog and it looks beautiful! Not sure how long you’ve been blogging for but I wouldn’t get too hooked on followers and stats which people tend to do. I think reaching out and connecting with other bloggers as well as sharing on social media if you choose is a good way to increase those. No one will find you if you don’t connect but it all comes over time 🙂
I noticed your instagram widget wasn’t working when I checked on your site so not sure if there is a problem there?

      1. It’s hard though cause I know if your aim is to overall make money from your blog the followers and stats is what companies focus on. However when your new it’s good to get used to blogging in general, I’ve been blogging for a year in August and although I’ve just starting making a small income from my blog I’m still learning so much about blogging and need help all the time. But the main way I improved my stats was through connecting with people and building relationships ☺️

    2. Wow. Love that dress and you do look like model. Your site reads like one long story. Is there a way to separate your posts? Can you sit with someone and have them go through your site to see if they feel the same way?

      1. Or perhaps change the theme to give you a better layout? I’ve changed my theme one and it messed up my posts and I had to go and fixed everyone. I know I need to upgrade mine as well but so afraid it will happen again. I need free help lol.

  9. Hello folks!

Waiting, watching, loving. What do you see when you play The Observer in your mind?

    Here’s something I scribbled down: https://lampteacupoverthinking.wordpress.com/2018/05/14/toast/

[I have recently started a ‘series’ of poems where I use as simple language as I possibly can (while preserving the grace and finery). This is an addition to the series-of-sorts.]

Do leave a comment or drop a message. I’d love to hear from you, wonderful person!

    Love,

  10. Hello everyone! My blog is about the adult web camming world, and what goes on behind the cam. I share what happens when I go to show and what men look for to get them off. I would love some professional feedback on it. If this is the wrong place to link my blog, I apologize. https://behindthewebcamblog.wordpress.com/

  11. I am new to blogging. I have posted a number of stories and it is exciting to see that some readers have liked them. Is there anyway I can change the order of the posts? I had in mind a contents page and the stories I posted ascending from oldest to newest on my site. I tried to achieve the order I wanted by deleting posts and re-posting my stories. But I can’t keep doing that. Plus…I lost all my likes 😦
I am a but of a simpleton with this. I would be grateful for any help.
    Thank you.

    1. Unfortunately there isn’t a way to change the order of the posts outside of changing the date they are “posted”, but that can take a long time. Some people use plugins to do that.

      1. Thank you for replying. I am sure I have a lot to learn. I have been very impressed by other people’s sites. They all look so professional. Mine is just a big reel of stories with my very amateur photos. Lots of improvements to make.

      2. People’s blogs are a reflection of them…yours is a reflection of you. I find myself changing themes and directions many times. In the end it always seems to reflect my mood or what I want. It has a way of secretly directing me where I need to go. My current blog was just started this month and was created after I deleted the last one that was a month old (someone stole something off my site–wasn’t happy–but I learned). Right now I need to get organized (in life)–I just changed to the more organized site this past week. I didn’t intend to do that, but it told me to…lol. You will find what works for you and makes you happy. 🙂

      3. Someone stole from your website. Not nice. There is one piece on my website I would be heart-broken if anyone stole. I wrote it at a very young age and have been in love with it for many years.
I really appreciate your advice. I just had a look at one of your posts…the one about the interview…loved it, made me laugh. I have been there so many times!

      4. Yeah, I was not happy about it because it was a draft to a story I wanted for my collection. Lesson learned. Everything I write on my blog is free for the taking (if they credit me). I think I would rather go back to printing pamphlets and selling direct to readers if I could figure out a way.

        Thanks for reading 🙂

      1. Thank you for your advice. I had a look at some of the information in the support forums. I have to confess, I am a bit of a techno-beginner. I have only ever used computers for sending e-mails and spreadsheets/word processing. I have a couple of friends who are experienced bloggers who have always liked my writing. I think I need to beg their help to come round one evening and help me make some changes so it easier to navigate stories I have posted.
