Community Pool

Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

    1. Short, thoughtful posts.
But you still have your default About page and the text widget on the right side. You might want to consider editing that. Let me know if you need help with that.

  1. If you have time, take a look at our most recent post, which is about using natural elements when designing a garden:

Using Organic Forms To Create Balance

At the end of the post, we are promoting a garden design course, but know that most people who read the post will not live near enough. If you read this post, would you be turned off by the mention of the course? And if you have a blog that is partly commercial, partly informative and inspirational, how do you balance the two? Please feel free to leave a link to an example post that we can check out. Comments are turned off on the blog, so please comment here.

    1. Thanks for the history lesson. Living in a Caribbean paradise we do pay attention to what happens on the other side of the globe. 2 months ago I read the book The General of the Dead Army by Ismail Kadare. I learnt so much. Thanks for posting this in the pool.

      1. That is one of my favorite books and it gives a very good representation of what happened in Albania after communism. You should also read Kosovo a Short History by Malcolm, The Serbs by Judah, and Women and Genocide by Women’s Press which has different articles regarding violence against women around the world.

      1. Ohh! Thank you very much. I just changed the image this morning. I was afraid that making the crop bigger would be too much. But I’m glad you liked it.

Please, share your feedback there, like and share if you feel like it, and, of course, follow to get more inspiring content!

  5. Hey guys… I’ve been blogging for over a year and a half now, but somewhere during the past few months I’ve seemed to lose my voice. Today I wrote a post about it and I’d really appreciate it if you guys to checked it out. I talk about what exactly made me not post regularly and that it wasn’t because I didn’t have any time. I feel like some of you can relate, especially if u have been blogging for a while now. Do check it out and be sure to leave a comment!

    1. Ah, i related to so much of this! I used to have a blog before this one, which i deleted purely cause it was too public and out-there with the people i knew, and that really interfered with the writing process for me, you know?
Like every time i got down to the biz, i would think, ‘Oh, what would this one think if i end up publishing this?’; and i don’t think i’ve still overcome that, although i’d really love to, and hope you can, too.
This blog of mine is completely free of known followers, so that keeps me going, please do check it out.
I love what you’ve done with the site by the way! Great layout, and the content, i think, speaks for itself. Keep writing, you’re clearly pretty great at it. 🙂
(Also, holy shit, did i just write an essay for a comment?)

  6. Hello!

I recently posted that I was looking for bloggers who were interested in writing a guest post on my blog and am considering putting the call for submissions on my about page. I’m looking for feedback on whether the original post gave clear enough guidelines and was reasonable before I update my About page and add it.
    Thank you!

      1. Just the content that I would post, and the include a little introduction and link to your blog. Does not need to be something you have posted

        Liked by 1 person

    1. Hi, I just took a peek, and personally think the original post was not too clear. You may consider doing these: 1. Rather than saying “Calling All Oddballs”, would “Calling for Guest bloggers be better? 2. You may want to also do a shorter intro paragraph, and go straight to the guidelines for submission, etc. I hope this helps! Cheers!!!

    1. Nice site. Great thinking.
One thing – the “text widget”. Go to My site-view site and click on any post to see the widget that we see. You can edit it from there, or go through customizer-widget. You can replace it with your own text, ot pictures, or other things.

  7. Hello fellow bloggers!!

Poetry is something that has gotten into my mind quite unknowingly. And since then, I’ve decided to give it a try.
I write poetry on different aspects of life. Please do check them out.

    Thank you!
    Happy reading.

  8. Hello!
Don’t you just love the sweet fragrance of flowers? I am a crazy nature-lover! I recently published a post in which I’ve expressed how I feel while being surrounded with leaves and twigs. Let me know what you think about it!

    Here’s the link to it:

  9. Heya bloggers!
I hope you are all well and that you have a great week ahead. I started my blog in January. I would appreciate if I could get an overall feedback for my page. Here’s the link to one of my posts. It is an older one, working on 3-4 posts side by side for this week.

    Friend?

    Thank you!!

    1. I really enjoyed your poem and the reality of its meaning, because we all experience such people at one time or the other in our lives. And for your page, I found it easy to navigate, and personally, that is what I look out for when I visit other blogs. Keep up the great work. Cheers!!!

      1. Oh thank you so much for reading my posts! I do try to balance my posts in terms of new and old stuff. I also try to be consistent but that isn’t working out too well.

Your post was really good. It was brief and to the point motivation which is required by people. Reading your post, I’m actually thinking about planning tomorrow in advance.

Oh yes, Black panther! Even I wanna see it really bad! :3
