First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

  1. Hey guys! Happy blogging. My blog is barely a month old! I like to write about day to day things or ideas that spontaneously occur to me.

I have ventured out to write a poem( which frankly intimidates me). Do have a look and give feedbacks.

Many thanks! Looking forward to connect with bloggers sharing same ideas and views!
    Cheers!!

    After the clouds clear.

    1. Hi @duskalert,

First Fridays is a space for brand-new bloggers sharing their first post published within the last month.

You’re ready to visit the Community Pool, where the water is fine and the members of the community are lovely. Bloggers of all stripes and levels of experience are welcome to comment there and ask for feedback and advice on their blog. All the best!

    1. Is it weird that I’m probably not your target audience but I think I’m really into posts like ‘sophomore year’ anyway? :/ Looking forward to more!

  2. Hello fellow bloggers! A warm good afternoon to everyone. I’m very new to this blogging sphere and took to blogging just few days back (4 to be precise). I have published 5 posts in my blog so far. I would like you to go through my first post and see if you like it or not. Please feel free to provide honest suggestions. Here’s the link:

Five Years Down. Forever to Go!

    Thank you all in anticipation.

    1. Your reply section asks visitors to fill in their name and email address. I personally find this off-putting. When I choose to comment on a post I like it to be immediately accessible.

      1. Thanks @Jane Gealy for the suggestion…I’d definitely try to make it easily accessible for the readers. 🙂 It’s so nice of you to point that out.

      1. I’ve seen Thor: Ragnarok. I thought it was pretty good although is definitely the weakest of the 3 Thor movies. I’m only going to be watching and reviewing movies that I haven’t seen before, so much to see, so hard to choose.

  3. Hello fellow bloggers! I have been blogging for just over two weeks now and am thoroughly loving expressing myself on here

Everyone has such kind words to say and really offers you a confidence boost!

My blog is about having and achieving your goals in the typical ‘5 year plan’. Come with me on my journey and see if you’re inspired too!

I would appreciate feedback from veterans too!

Why I chose blogging and why you should delve in!

    1. Veterans? I’ve not been in the army, but having a plan is good a idea but life doesn’t always go according to plan. 🙂

      1. Haha Army veterans, blogging veterans, I’ll accept both…It doesn’t you’re right, that’s why I’m trying to help myself and others make sure that reach our goals…whether I inspire anyone I don’t know, but I continually inspire myself and find out new things I didn’t know I could think of

  4. Bloggers, teary confession: I had a funny uncle.

    Introductions.

If that successfully got your attention, it’s true. He still makes really bad jokes.
My first post raves about what my new blog is about; so drop in, settle down, cuddle up. Be sure to follow too, if you like what you see; because there’s more to come from the mind that created.
Or maybe that’s just my troubled childhood talking. (I’m kidding, sorry)
    Thank you!

    1. I’m so guilty of comparing myself to others and feeling very down because I haven’t got married/had kids like everyone my age has… Comparison really is the thief of joy.

  5. I got busy with a blog already as I’m using it as a diary but this is the time I’ve managed to catch the First Friday page open.

    https://tenzenmen.wordpress.com/2018/01/07/here-we-are-in-the-new-age-7th-january-2018/

The bones of the tale are this.  In 1994, I relocated from small-town England to small city Australia. Sydney and thereabouts.  In 2018, I will relocate from small city Australia to small-town Thailand.  In 1994, I documented my time in transition. I have not looked over those diary entries since, but the intention is to add them here alongside current musings.  Let’s see how they compare.  Let’s see if I have really gained some wisdom in the intervening years.
