Where WordPress bloggers support each other with feedback and advice.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for more information about custom domains, advanced design options, and other enhancements for your blog? Find the WordPress.com plan that’s right for you.
Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Great post (as always). As a parent my goal is to let my kids explore. A high school admissions counselor (not for mine–they’re only in 2nd grade) recently said that even Olympic-gold swimmer Michael Phelps competed in various sports all the way through high school. It must be tough to see that your child is gifted–to not push and prime them. Here’s hoping more kids can just be kids. Thanks for the reminder!

Thank you so much for those kind words and your own contribution of perspective. I could not agree more. At age 11 kids are specializing in just one sport thee day and how about kid who are learning violin, 2 other languages and taking colleg coures for no credit just to get a leg up to get into Ivy League colleges. I agree let kid be kids

Hmmmm i’ve seen people doing it, i but never done it myself , but try writing something up in every new post and then put a link to the desired web page.
For instance , your site speaks about trees, write something about it and then link it to your site. When you select a word you can chose to bold it, italic it…. or “link” it. I hope this helps

Before I created my blog, I did some planning. First I decided the purpose of my blog. (What is your purpose in blogging? to share your work as a journalist? to give tips to other writers? to find other bloggers with similar interests?) Next, I scrolled through the available themes that WordPress offers to find one that could accommodate what I had in mind. (Will your site be mostly text, photos, or a combination? Have you thought about the overall appearance that would work for you?) Then, I worked my way through the lessons on: http://learn.wordpress.com/ These steps did take some time; however, I’m glad I did them. https://gracelead.co

I guess the main thing will be to think carefully about what you intend to write / publish – the general subject area(s) as well as perhaps thinking about what your first few posts will be. And then think about who it’s for – do you have a specific readership in mind – and if so how can you best reach them.
Good luck.
