Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hey!! I just checked out your blog, as well as followed. I like how you give a peek into your world without exposing too much. And the colour scheme is great too.

Please do check out my blog as well. I’ve only just started out so there isn’t too much up yet 🙂

  3. Hello bloggers. I have started a series titled Look Behind the Reflection, which are based on my personal life and personal revelations regarding life and patriarchy’s effect in it. I just posted the third part. I would highly appreciate if you would check it out and give me feedback. I have had good feedback so far which is helping me with my writing. Here is the link:

    1. Loving the style of your blog, just one question, why are you not using weibo since the chinese community there is greater compared to wordpress. Most of the people here do not understand your posts, but I completely understand because I know Chinese. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

and you know, weibo is “China” base. i’m not sure if i can write some “sensitive” issues there or not.

    1. Wow…. I am utterly dumbfounded by your posts, they take my mentality into a roller coaster ride, especially the one on one-sided love, and the afraid of loving piece, they are both very impactful, and speaks the very word of my heart. I am currently inflicting myself with self-destructive love, thanks to your words, I might want to reconsider my choices. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

  4. hey everyone,

i have just written a piece looking at the difference between criticism and critique and the need [especially in the church] for us to embrace it instead of being so defensive all the time.

Would dig it if you could take a look and maybe leave your thoughts in the comments…

    1. A very feeble blog that you have there, your blog is virtually nothing, those words are not expressive enough, and there is no title for most of your writings, your first post is unedited, there is a text widget at the top right of your blog, your about page is in need of info, all of those could be changed by pressing the customise button. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

  5. I just started blogging and I really need to build a large audience because my grades depend on the number of views, likes and follows. What do I do to achieve this and create a traffic on my blog

    1. Write more, quality content, related to your theme, and take more beautiful pictures as the cover picture for your posts. By the way, loving the way that you write your posts, and the style that you captivate the readers into them. Little footnotes, there is a text widget at the top right of your blog, and your about page is in need of info, all of those could be edited by pressing the customise button on your page. Great start. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

  6. Hi all, I started a fiction series that is very compelling to me. I’d really appreciate it if someone could let me know what they think of it. It’s somewhat experimental, dealing with an alternative universe. This is the link to the second “part” (it’s all just loosely connected so far, might make it into something more coherent or maybe not, we’ll see): https://hypsolinicose.wordpress.com/2017/07/21/page-132-on-which-connections-are-further-elaborated/ Thank you!!!

  7. I just started my blog the other day, so I’m new to this. I said in my first blog post, or introduction so to speak, that I would write on here everyday. I needed a little outlet where I can express my thoughts. I am younger than most bloggers on here though.. and that makes me feel intimidated because I am not as skilled. Every blog I’ve looked at on here was flawless. I have lots to say, but I guess I’m wondering how to say it in the best way possible. I want some tips on how to improve my writing skills. 🙂 The only post I have so far, that has been an expression of a thought, and focused on writing was titled “Day One: Late Night Rant”. If you could check that out and give me feedback, that would be great. Also, when you’re just starting your blog, how do you reach people?? I feel like no one is seeing my blog. Your help would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks :),
    Julia

    1. Hi, I just read your post and it was really good! Instead of writing a giant block of text, you could split it up into individual paragraphs. If you want to reach readers, you should post consistently – you don’t want anyone to visit your blog to see a post that is weeks or months old. And keep commenting on this weekly post to attract readers!

  8. I am currently reading Dale Carnegie’s “How to start worrying and start living” which I found incredibly inspiring. For the coming days I will post each day one of his rules described in the book.

Here is rule#1 – Shut the door on the past and the future. Live in day-tight Compartments.

How to Stop Worrying and Start Living – Rule #1

What do you think of the idea and presentation? Looking forward to your feedback.

    Thanks,

      1. Loved your writing style, and your blog theme is nice, clean and so straight, which what I like about themes!! I think you just need to make the posts shorter, didn’t mean they are long, but if just a little bit shorter will be great!! but it’s a great start!
Feel free to check out my blog as well!!
