Community Pool

Where bloggers come together to give each other feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

I’m so happy to share my latest travel blogging response– of top cultural foods I’ve tried in my travels. My blog is lifestyle and travel, with a dose of inspiration posts. I love food and cultures. Anyone can participate in the challenge, and I hope you will too! What are your favorite cultural foods?

    1. Congratulations and good for you for realizing the importance of self-care even when we’re feeling down! (I’m sorry about your cat)
I think the pictures are a nice touch as they put a friendly, smiling face to the “scary” person dealing with depression and/or anxiety.
Your post has a very nice flow to it; conversational almost. I think this is a smart approach as it makes your piece approachable to most any reader.
      Well Done!

I recently published “What Happened To Our Kids Summer Vacation” and felt pretty good about it. I was surprised by how poorly the piece was received. I’d love some honest feedback on the piece so that I may improve it and do better next time.
      Thanks!

      1. Hi Katie! I enjoyed your post about summer vacation… I was one of those kids who just went to day camp in the summer, since both my parents worked…. Now watching what my friends kids and students are doing for the summer, I wish my parents could have afforded those activities…. but it turns out, I can totally do all those things now, as an adult, and I do, so I don’t feel too bad 🙂
I enjoyed what you wrote (would love to see some pictures of that beach!)and will follow your journey!

  2. Hello fellow bloggers

Sometimes the ability to express sorrow is a form of a blessing for a depressed soul. Please let’s be compassionate towards the pain & agony of other people around us. Let us unite to be sympathetic towards each other’s misery so that we can at some point change the tears of sorrow into tears of joy for one another. I usually write poetry but trying to diversify my writing ambit by starting off by writing quotes as well. Here’s the link of my 1st ever quote:

An honest feedback would be appreciated 🙂

  5. Holding On And Letting Go.

A lot of things got me thinking recently. And someone made me understand, we sometimes push ourselves into experiences because deep down we want it, and that is what has always pushed me to write.

Because reality will always beat fiction. And trauma my dears, is a masterpiece.

So here comes my latest piece

  6. Morning everyone! I’m relatively new to this however have been blogging for a couple of years on various topics on other sites, trying out new ideas until I have decided to go on here and create a blog overall on literature theatre and feminism. I posted my first post yesterday on F.Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ and would much appreciate it if I could get some feedback on it, as although I am an English student, this is my first time blogging on literature and novels! Thank you!

  7. I have to say I think the piece is really well thought out, composed, and effective in delivering its message. I might take a look at the piece for typos, misspelled words, and a few minor grammar mistakes, but all-in-all, the piece is very well done. Nice Job!

  8. Hi All,

I haven’t been writing very regularly on my poetry/ travel blog ( https://opinionatedhead.com/ ) for a month or longer, one of those phases.

Since yesterday I have been writing again, but I am not very sure about how I am doing. I would love for you all to check out my Last two posts and share your feedback.

    ThanK you!

  9. Hello all,
I started my blog several months ago and finally I have enough posts added to ask what you all think. Almost all of my posts are about memory and loss and grief (my sister passed away a while back and this blog is my way to let go of some stuff) so unfortunately it isn’t (yet) as cheery as I hope it will be on day.
That being said, I would just like to hear what you think in general as all of you have waaaaaaay more experience writing and blogging than I do. I don’t really have one post to specifically ask you to look at but they are all fairly short so they should be easy to whip through if you have a few minutes.
Many many thanks in advance to all of you. I appreciate any and all feedback!
