First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    2. Hey. Well there’s no secret trick of having a larger audience here. We all are writers and readers. It works like a barter system, you read , like and leave a feedback on someone’s blog, and that person does the same in return. You should participate in First Friday on every Fridays and after gaining a certain number of followers, join in the Community Pool on every Mondays. I liked your layout, content is good, however I noticed you got some placeholder text, which you can remove using the “Text Widget” section of your theme Customizer. Keep writing as always. Cheers!

    1. Very modernised ideas, loving the vogue that you present in your blog, the way that you laced pixelated words into a piece of fine art. Just a little foot note, at the bottom-most part of your page, there is still a text widget hanging there, go to the customise part of your page and make a change to it. Great start. Have hope, write on!

Intriguing depiction of your feelings being in a mantle of words. Hope to see more from you. And hope you can get along with OCD. Great start. Have hope, write on!

    1. Normal… Haha it is just a perpective. Be who you are. Do not ever succumb to any depression or anxiety. If everyone is normal, how can the world be lighted up with beautiful contours of diversity? Nice write-up. Love the style you bring the readers into relishing your writing. Hope to see more from you. Have hope, write on!

    2. The thing I noticed is that you’re using a lot of tags . the thing is WordPress filters out posts having 15 or more than that categories and tags combined for anti spamming, try reducing your tags and keep only the most relevant ones. And the post was great. Keep blogging as always. Cheers!

  2. Hi everybody!!! Boy does it feel good to finally be apart of the blogging community after thinking about doing this for so long and just last week taking the plunge. . . Anyway my first official post honoured #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and was a write up on my experience with Anxiety and Depression as a young black female. Please have a read and I’d love to hear what you think. Though nervous about posting my blog here, I’m equally excited to begin to discover people and other newbies just like me.

      1. Hey I went through your blog. I for one believe there’s a lot of room for improving the layout of your page. The content looks good but you can work on your theme a bit. Secondly, I noticed you have placeholder texts on your right sidebar which you need to remove/edit by using the “Text Widget” section of your Theme Customizer and as always keep writing and inspiring. Cheers! 🙂

  4. Hi everyone!
My name is Matt and I’m a college student who loves to write and is new to blogging. I’m currently on a road trip until July first exploring the United States (and some of Montréal) with my best friend from school. I titled the blog “No Expectations” because we left without any plans as to where we’re headed; we’re letting our sense of direction and word on mouth guide us. I’m blogging about the adventure to share my travel experiences and simply for my own pleasure! I would love to receive some feed back on my first post from a little over a week ago. The link is: http://ajourneywithnoexpectations.com/2017/05/12/necessities/
    Thank you so much!

      1. Keep the total number of categories and tags combined under 15 and you would be good to go. For tags it advisable to keep within 10-12 at max

      2. I’m still trying to figure out the category thing. Is the category for like the entire blog itself or do you categorize each post seperately?

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Categories helps you stack similar posts in separate sections. Suppose you have 2 posts which are based on bullying then you can create the category as bullying for both of them and whenever someone visits your site and searches for the category “bullying” they will find that 2 posts you had written related to it

      4. Ok so like posts pertaining to moms would be one catagory and if the post is like how to become a Mompreneur it would be another and one on skincare would be categorized as skincare?

      5. Yes it will help keep your blog more organized and easier to get more views as readers will know what they are looking for.

    1. The post was very informative , since it was a traveler guide post, would have been great if you could have added a bit more images to make it look more visually appealing. Secondly I noticed your page consists of placeholder post and texts which you can remove/edit by using the “Text Widget” section of your Theme Customizer. And also get your About page written up. And as always keep writing. Cheers! 🙂
