First Friday

New blogger? Welcome! Share a link to your first post, say hello to other new faces, and find your first few readers.

For other help:
If you’re not new and are looking for support or feedback, the Community Pool is the place for you!

For technical questions, visit the WordPress.com Support Forums.

To learn more about blogging, take a Blogging U. course.

To find, copy, and paste your link:
Head to your blog’s home page — not your dashboard, your blog itself. Click on the title of your post to open the individual post.

Highlight and copy the URL you see in your browser’s address bar, and paste the entire URL into a comment here.

Welcome to First Friday, a weekly open thread where any new blogger can share a link to his or her very first post with the larger WordPress.com community. To share your first post with us, copy and paste the link right into a comment here. If you’re not new, you can still be a part of First Fridays: visit a link or two, and leave the blogger a like or comment.

Please don’t use this as a space to share your first post…. that you published three years ago; ditto for simply sharing your latest post. Posts should have been published within the last month, and should be your first post. We’ll remove other posts to keep this space focused for new bloggers.

We ask that you help us keep this space focused by following a few additional guidelines:

  • We encourage anyone who shares a link to visit a few other bloggers. New readers for all!
  • When commenting, the third time is not the charm: don’t share the same link repeatedly, or in multiple First Friday threads. We’ll remove repeat posts.
  • Link directly to your new post, rather than to your blog generally — it makes it that much easier for folks to like the post or leave you comments.
  • Avoid repeated “Follow for a follow!” comments. (Tip: if you’re trying to build a readership, it’s much more effective to visit and comment on individual bloggers.)
  • To keep from losing your place while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on links to open them in a new tab or window.

    1. I would love if you can extend your reaches to anime like “Monster”, “Attack on Titans”, “Bleach”, “Tokyo Ghoul” and a few others

  1. Hi, I am a new blogger. I have never done anything like this before so I’m still getting to grips with it. I have created a blog to share my art with people. I am just coming to the end of my a-levels so I thought why not try share it with as many people as I can. I study portraits feel free to send in requests and I will try draw them. I haven’t posted much at the moment as I am still getting the hang of things. Feel free to check it out-

      1. The poems are very natural and simplistic . Liked em. The picture in this post so reminded me of “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. Keep writing as always . Cheers!

    1. Hey. I checked your blog title. Looks like you have placeholder texts on your sidebars which you can remove/edit by using the “Text Widget” section of your Theme customizer and do keep a site title / identity name and get your about page written up. And as always keep writing 🙂

    1. Hello. I noticed there are placeholder texts on your sidebar which you can remove/edit by using the “Text Widget” option in your theme Customizer. And your content has a stroke of informality which made me more comfortable. Fun reading . And as always keep writing. Cheers!

    1. Btw, I’m using WordPress strictly from my phone, so, as I read through comments on other people’s links, I’m sure I must be missing some of the same elements suggested to them. Unfortunately, I don’t see any way to adjust those things through the app, and the website is so small on my phone that I can’t really work with that, either. Since I don’t have another way to blog at present, I hope that’s not a problem. But, if it is, I guess there isn’t much I can do about it for now. Still, I don’t want to stop blogging altogether, so I guess I’ll just push through it.

      1. Hey. The link leads to me your dashboard. Just open the app on your phone and go to my site, scroll down and there will be an option “View Site” or “Visit Site”, after that opens , copy the link from the browser address box on your phone browser and paste it here.

      2. That’s so weird because I was so careful in trying to follow the directions in the intro. But, using the app and your directions, I get this, and it looks like it should be right, so hopefully it is. Thanks for providing the app directions, btw! That was much better than trying to do it through my tiny browser like I did the first time! 😊 And sorry for the mixup. True signs of a newb, I guess. 😉

    1. Hey looks like you aren’t using any categories for your posts. Do use those features as they really help in getting more viewers and keep the content on your page very organized

  4. Hello friends! I’ve only worked with WordPress for a little over a week now so there’s still much to learn! My blog is about our renovations/updates on our 100+ year old farmhouse. Any tips or tricks to make my blog better would be so appreciated!

    1. Your actual link is https://thefarmatlowground.com and your house looks like it’s going to be fantastic.
You mention pecan trees, so I assume you must be in the southern US and I see you have 325 followers already. Must be a lot of people interested in seeing what you’re doing. All the best in your blogging as well as your renovations.

      1. Thank you so much! And yes we are in Southern Georgia, close to Savannah. I’m glad you mentioned the followers, I can’t seem to figure out who they are? I noticed that the other day and wasn’t sure if it was real or not! Do you know if there’s a way I can find out who they are, would love to follow them back! Thank you so much for responding!

    1. “Mirrors tell you the reality, they always tell truth” – left me contemplating. Your blog is well organized. However I noticed some placeholder text on your right sidebar which you can remove/edit using “Text Widget” section of your theme customizer. And as always keep writing. Cheers!

    1. Hey. I went through your page. Looks like you have placeholder post and placeholder texts which you can remove/edit by using the “Text Widget” section of your theme customizer. Another advise would be to get your “About” page written up. Thirdly your content is good, it expressed your thoughts so vividly. And as always keep writing. Cheers!

    1. Hey I noticed you’re using a lot of tags. WordPress filters out posts with 15 or exceeding than that number of Tags and Categories combined. Try reducing them and keep the most relevant ones
