Community Pool

Where bloggers come for friendly feedback and advice.

Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?

The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:

Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).

Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.

To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips and guidelines you might find useful:

  • While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
  • The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once, as well as for not starting numerous threads in a single Pool.
  • If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
  • We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother. Also note that including multiple links in your comment might automatically put it in the moderation queue, which will delay its publication.
  • Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
  • To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
  • If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
  • No running on the deck.

Are you a new blogger looking to share your very first post? We have a special forum for bloggers just like you in our weekly First Friday posts.

  1. Hello Pool,

Glad to be here after a short break!
I jotted few lines on what a girl go through her man many a times which I feel many can relate to, So please share 2 to 3 minutes of your quality time to stop by and voice what you feel on it.

    Here it goes:

    1. There’s no need to cry 😉 I enjoyed your poem. I did notice one place where you might want to make a change: “I have grown fond: -To your voice and to your touch” would read better as “I have grown fond: -Of your voice and of your touch” https://gracelead.co

      1. Unfortunately, I don’t use social media enough to pair with my WordPress blog, but thank you for the suggestion!

  2. I’ve started a brand new blog today; while I’ve HTML cofed websites before I honestly found WordPress to be a bit overwhelming.

Can I design my own template if I’m using the free version? There’s a number of limitations I am finding quite frustrating e.g. not being able to customise all colours or add and remove sidebars or position text as I wish

  3. Hello guys! Do not look here ! Look away!
Here is the latest post on my blog-‘Biased’ , which evaluates a bit of psychology as to why we are biased.
Give it a read and follow my blog for more interesting content that is about to arrive.

  4. My hubby wouldn’t let me post what I thought was my most beautiful post of all, so I reposed another one I really liked from when I was a new blogger. Not that many people saw it, so I’ll post about it here at https://birdflight.blog/2017/04/14/md-day-5-when-second-tries-dont-measure-up-to-the-first/

Have you ever gotten something just perfect and then had to scrap it or put it aside for some reason? Or you were writing something you loved and forgot to save it and the computer crashed. That’s how I feel today even though the post was saved.

Here’s the latest post on my blog-‘Biased?’ which evaluates a bit of psychology as to why humans are biased!

    1. A Touch of Life had some good thoughts. It would be easier to read if you broke up some of the long sentences. For instance, here is a possible edit of one of your long sentences: “Here I am today, five years down in holy matrimony. My partner strives to gratify me in any way possible in spite of the immense work intensity he encounters at his office. He’s managing a manufacturing unit that operates 24 7. As I’m writing this blog, I’m wondering how life can become so contrasting to how we always planned it to be.” https://gracelead.co

    1. That was so honest…thank you for sharing 🙂
I think all of us wear masks everyday, trying to hide who we are. It is our choice. I think people should go with whatever makes them happy, even if it is a difficult choice.

  6. I posted a poem as a part of yesterday’s daily prompt.
I’m starting to try and tie in continuous imagery into my poems, so just interested in if the idea of ticking signifying lost time carries through the work.

    Time

Other feedback would also really be appreciated, thank you.

  7. I am a new blogger and posted a link to my first blog on the First Friday post today. It was great. A bunch of people liked my blog or commented. When I went back to check out all the posts and read the comments, my link and comments had been deleted from the thread and my notification bell. Why would that happen? I have never posted in one of these forums before and I did mark that my first post was a little older (40 days instead of 30, but still my first and still new).
I am adding a link to my first post in case there is something clue to the deletion there. https://freethetruth.live/2017/03/04/manifest-truth/
    Thank you for your help!

  8. What’s happening fellow bloggers!
As often happens when a story is in the ‘papers day after day I did a bit of digging through the Yahoo! news feed and its search engine, then put this together:

    Supreme payback shadowed Gorsuch nomination

If anyone is interested in reading about what led up to the Supreme Court confirmation fight and a bit of forecasting feel free to visit and leave a comment about the post or my new page layout.
