Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Are you redesigning your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
The Community Pool is for peer feedback and advice. Looking for more specific information? Check out some of these resources:
- Learn, a series of step-by-step tutorials for those just starting out.
- All our posts on building an audience and growing your traffic.
- If you’re stuck for inspiration, here are our Daily Prompts and other ideas for writing topics.
- A roundup of posts on blogging etiquette.
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
Looking for free, self-guided courses to help you get started with your blog (or revive a dormant one)? Check out our current offerings at Blogging U.
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Excellent response! This is what I hope for when I write…a good comment back! I have to say, I love pictures more than words…combining them is tricky a bit. But I like the challenge. As for the pancakes…I make those often…I eat them as dessert also…dipping them in a generous amount of maple syrup 🙂 Thank you for your comment. I will surely check your blog. Yaz

Sonam, I paid a visit to your blog and liked the tidy serenity, although I felt the ‘subscribe’ pop-up box was just a little too assertive. It is good to set yourself goals, or should I say GOAls? Direction is good, so long as there’s flexibility, too. Good luck with achieving them.

Hi Dermott, thank you for visiting my blog. Great insight about the Subscribe pop-up. Although it is getting me subscribers, I guess it does come across as a bit assertive – will def look into that. As for my GOAls, you are right about flexibility being the key. Thankfully, I’m all about flexibility and flow, so hopefully should achieve them 😀
Thanks once again!

Hey! I posted a question in your Q & A. Also, your blog idea is GENIUS! I really enjoy your retelling of history in a comedic way by personifying the countries! I have thought a bit about how different countires would be personified, specifically during wars. I think it would be interesting to see how WWI or WWII would translate to a fight between young children. Obviously, both of those wars were great tragedies, but I think it would be kind of funny to view them in a different way. That being said, I appreciate that you wish to be respectful in your posts, as there are some touchy topics that should not be portrayed as funny. Keep on writing, it’s a very unique thing you are doing, and it’s great! You can check out my blog on authentic living and thankfulness at: https://wondersinthewind.wordpress.com/

Thank you for the comment! World Wars have great story potential because they capture both the best and worst parts of humanity. I definitely think that reinterpretations of such big world events are great because they really make us think.

One thing that would be really awesome, especially given the theme of your blog, is if you had links (either in your menu or on your About page) to some of your works, projects, etc. Something that shows us what you’ve done so far as an aspiring filmmaker. What a cool idea for a blog! I like that your topic is specific enough but allows you to still write on a lot of things. Who doesn’t love some Disney/Pixar? Keep on writing, and I encourage you to put up more content, but don’t overwhelm yourself! As a note of constructive criticism, I’ve noticed that you have the same menu in two places, above and below the title of your blog, which is pretty redundant. If possible, try to get rid of one of those. Also, those mugs are SO COOL! I have a Mike Wazowski mug that is all green with an eye on it that I really enjoy. Sadly, Jimmy Faulkner (for, it was he) died before the music was finished. Jimmy was an incredible blues guitarist and he asked me to write some lyrics for him. I wrote and gave it to him, saying he could do what he wanted with it. He liked the chorus but was unsure of the political content. He played me his chorus, one night and it sounded good. He died, two weeks later.

Read your blog, Christina, well done. There is no room for hate. I’ve just heard an update with interviews from some Pulse Club regulars suggesting this was not Omar Mateen’s first visit and others suggesting he was gay. Whether he was gay or visited the club to case it, before his attack, it remains a crime of hate. Even if it’s self hatred, the horror that someone should hate themselves so much for their own sexuality, they would manifest that hatred in such an horrific manner is a sad and damning indictment on humanity, in general

Hey there, I read your most recent post about your hiking trip, which was great, as well as you piece on Orlando. I liked that your connected to the others shootings that have happened, as unfortnately the tragedy in Orlando was not the first mass shooting we have seen. Still, that does not make it any less tragic. I have seen many use this massacre to further their own agenda, and while we should all mourn the human lives that were taken and wounded, I think this event should affect politics. This event, and the many others that have come before it, are not acceptable. And I sincerely hope that this massacre does not become just something to feel sad about. I hope that it also inspires action to prevent future events like it from happening. I hope that politicians would do something about it and not just say what a shame it was that these people lost their lives. These things should not be normal. We owe it to the victims of these tragedies to do everything in our power to stop loss of more lives from gun violence. Your post points out that simply blaming others is not the way to go either. And the names or ethnic background of the shooters should not determine their punishment. Their actions should. I commented this on your post too. Hello there Donna! I just looked around your blog. It all looks good. The one bit of constructive criticism I have is I noticed you have a lot of widgets in the sidebar that are not being used. Hey there! I have mixed feelings. I like the current logo, especially the buildings part, and I wonder what it would look like if the main title was made smaller so there was not text on the buildings. For me, the current logo gives me history and religious vibes, but it doesn’t really display the humor portion of the blog. The new logo definitely showcases the humor aspect, but not as much of the Christian part. But I think showing the light-hearted/humor part is more important that making it obvious it is a christian blog. After all, the subtitle already mentions that. So although I do like the current logo, the proposed one seems to fit the blog better, so I’d say go for it. Looks like a great site! Thank you for that…themes are a minefield, so many and hard to narrow down. I’m still learning though about customising and time is the big factor. Might try a few other looks before I settle completely. What suits some doesn’t suit others…the background colour was chosen though because a couple of readers have photosensitivity and they said bright whites make it hard for them to read easily…that made me think as before I’d never even thought about that! Will hop over to yours now 😊

You’ve definitely picked one of the themes with a narrower reading area, so I encourage you to preview some others if that’s an issue. And re: the background, most themes let you change the background color, so look for a theme you like first, and then adjust the color:

Hey there, I don’t know what the blog used to look like, but it looks pretty good right now! I think you have a good balance of text and images, and your title easily accomodates the various topics you write on. I am impressed at how long and how much you have written. Congrats! I like that your posts are personal, yet relatable to others. I followed you, and I look forward to checking out more of your blog! Thanks, I only actually realised that you can make small alterations to things like fonts, so changed it in the hope it still looked okay. Will come and check out your work!
