The place for advice, feedback, and friendly blogging chatter.
Have you just published a new post and are dying for some feedback? Did you recently start your blog and could use some layout or design advice from your more seasoned peers?
Tap into the wisdom of The Daily Post blogging community and leave your question here in the comments. Others can then click through and offer input either on your site, or in the comments here (feel free to indicate which you’d prefer).
To help us make the Community Pool a productive space for discussion, here are some tips you might find useful:
TIP: To keep from losing your place in the comment thread while you visit others’ blogs, right-click on a link to open it in a new tab or window.
- While you’re not required to, we encourage everyone who requests feedback to also reply to at least one or two other bloggers who need some help. Spread the love!
- The Community Pool comments section can get quite big — and starting duplicate threads doesn’t help. Thanks for not posting the same question more than once!
- If you’re looking for quality feedback, be as specific as you can. Questions about a particular post tend to draw more comments than ones about entire blogs. Questions about specific design elements are more likely to be answered than ones asking for general layout advice.
- We discourage leaving links without a more substantive message or question. These are often overlooked by other bloggers, and we frequently remove them to make the comment reading experience smoother.
- Please keep all comments civil and constructive. The idea is to have fun — it’s a pool, after all!
- If you haven’t looked at our Commenting Guidelines in a while, now might be a good time.
- No running on the deck.

Your site is lovely. The only quick recomendation I would make is to see if you can shorten the view of your posts on your main screen. In other words, if you can shorten them so more show it might encourage people to click on more of them in one visit. Your site, is like mine, users have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the post in order to see the next one. I can’t fix it in mine with the theme I am using but perhaps you can in yours. This just might encourage readers to read more of your word.
Also, I might suggest the use of images in your posts. I realize the words in your posts are most important but it might grab the readers attention if they are visual.
Best of luck in your work.

Thank you for the feedback; I really appreciate it. I’ve thought the same thing and have tried, but it seems they only appear that way if one clicks on a particular category, but on the main page, they go on forever. So yes, I’ll need to look at some other themes, because I agree the scrolling forever can be tiresome. I’ve been playing around with images, but so far haven’t liked how they looked – again, could be the theme I’m using. Thank again, I really appreciate it.

I love the look of your blog. I think it couldn’t hurt to break the posts down to shorter bits. All the research I have read says to keep them shorter but I am a firm believer in doing what feels right. If you feel good about what you are writing it will come through in your posts. I look forward to seeing the progress on your house. Good luck with your blog.

I liked it. I don’t know if it’s possible to blog “too much” as long as you’re not doing legions and legions a day– and you’re not. After all, one of the best things about blogs is being able to savor them at our leisure…
But… from glancing around your blog, I really didn’t know where to start. I read your interesting description here so I headed over, but maybe you could put a page like that on your blog, too? A guide to your story, and a quick visible explanation as to what’s going on? Because the charm value alone makes me want to read and support. My husband and I used to blog together, too.

Hi, I just read your post. It is very interesting and as former law student in France, I loved how you present the case.
This said I thought the post was a little too long to be text only. I think I would have enjoyed pictures to breathe some aire in the page.
My other thought was that you stayed neutral throughout the all post until the last two lines. A little hint of what made you talk about this case would have been nice.

Writer’s block sucks! I have no ways to combat it, but what I do when I do have ideas and drive is write a lot and save posts as drafts so if there comes a week where I’n dry creatively, I’ll still have a post ready to go. I currently have about six drafts, which, if I needed it to, could last me a month or two if I really space things out.
I hope that helps! Happy blogging!

Thanks for the input. Your approach sounds like a good strategy. I’m not a prolific blogger so the “block” doesn’t usually affect my posting (inertia is what slows me down).
Where I find the trouble is in my fiction writing and it’s usually because I have too many ideas floating in my brain at one time. So it’s difficult to focus on just one idea when they are all clamoring for my attention!
Best of luck with your blogging!

I do tend to have certain angles but I do not want to confine myself to a specific one in case I decide to pursue something different in the future. Thus, the lack of a specific approach as I don’t want to target specific readers.

WordPress seems very glitchy today because I had left a comment. Oh well. I followed your blog because I want to delve into it more (you had me at Agatha Christie!) But one suggestion I might make is that you add tags that might be seen on your home page. I see that you have them on individual posts, but for someone that may stumble on your blog who may not go digging, they might not realize what ‘Weekly Wonder’ or ‘3 Days, 3 Quotes’ is all about. But if I see a tag on your Home Page that says Agatha Christie or Walt Whitman then I am more likely to spend some time. Just a thought, otherwise, well done.

One thing I noticed that you don’t have are social media buttons to list social media accounts. A little constructive criticism: I would recommend giving your posts a quick edit, or having someone else look them over for you, as there are some small errors that were a little distracting. For example, “illusive” refers to something “illusory” – not real. You want the word “elusive” – hard to track down. In another instance, you have a period after a parenthetical aside even though the sentences continues after it. Just small things like that.

Hi Caly,
You have a very fun-looking blog. Your theme is bright and inviting and it made me follow. ^_^
Have you ever did DIY videos? I think that would be a great addition to your blog, if not.
