Topic #149:
Do you believe in life on other planets? Why or why not? Why do you think most alien races in most movies are so dangerous rather than friendly?
Recent news: Worms from hell unearth possibility for extra-terrestrials.

I was in high school when I saw a documentary on HBO about UFO and I kind of believed it. 😀

WE HAVE TO BE REAL IDIOTS NOT TO BELIEVE LOOK AT ALL THE UFOs, THE CROP CIRCLES AND ALL THAT’S GOING ON IN THE WORLD, UNLESS YOU BELIEVE IN COINCIDENCES, THEN YOU ARE A BIGGER FOOL.

I personally believe that the likelihood of extraterrestrials is too high to discard the possibility altogether. Many scientists don’t even try to out rule the possibility and just say, “It’s highly likely.” In answering your 3rd question, no I don’t believe they are dangerous unless something slips and my theory is incorrect. I believe that a being of higher intelligence than our own, that has the ability to travel through space, taking short cuts – or however they do it to get from here to there, watching other civilizations, other worlds, surely they would learn what hate and malice do…. I particularly believe that with knowledge and experience comes wisdom, therefore, I truly believe that a higher being would Know that war, hate, fighting… it all is completely irrelevant, because it is. I can see this, myself. Fighting, negativity, it’s all irrelevant and never solves the problem. If anything, they would be here to help us, in my opinion.
You must consider the files the official FBI website released in “The Vault” on Roswell and UFOS, information they held out releasing for many many years until recently.
Eu acredito que o único planeta com vida seja mesmo o planeta Terra,mas;
Temos muitos cientistas experientes que podem opinar sobre este
relevante Tema, com melhor precisão baseadas em suas experiências.

I’ll reply with a quote from the movie ‘Contact’ based on Carl Sagan’s book: “I’d say… if it is just us (in the universe)… it seems like an awful waste of space.”

Ha. As co-founder of the Sci-fi Club in my high school the answer would be yes. I think it was CS Lewis who said God originally intended for His people to explore His entire creation. We missed out and got stuck on this lovely but groaning globe when Adam and Eve sinned. Can’t wait for the new creation when we finally get to meet all the cool critters out there…

why not!?! we are too small to be the center of the universe.

While I’d find it interesting to see life on other planets. My question would be .. where? No other planet has been found that has the basics to support life. Well, life as we know it. With regard to UFO’s my question is this, how come SETI has had millions of dollars given to it to seek out life signals over many years and found nothing..? Yet we have thousands of people with encounter experiences that point to the opposite. Are we to consider what UFO researchers such as Vallee and J Allen Hynek suggested that these “visitors” may not be extra terrestrial but may be inter-dimensional?
If visitors are indeed from other planets, they would need to have technology that is far superior to what we have, to travel those immense distances, yet they crash??? I can’t accept that.

I’m ignoring the “on-Earth evidence” and looking at the statistical improbability of life not existing on other planets. Also, inhuman predators from a plot and psychological point of view.

I don’t think we are the only intelligent life forms in the universe.
And the reason movies portray aliens as dangerous is because the movies are showing what we, supposedly human beings, would do to any life form we would find. Look at how whites treat Blacks, Jews treat Muslims, etc., one group treats another group just because they are different. Fear, greed, warped sense of power, etc. and mob rule come are played out in the different alien movies. Only one E.T. but lots of killer critters out to kill mankind and take over the Earth. Just doing what we would do to them.

There’s probably life some place else, the universe is pretty big and thought chances of us being the only biological life form in it is absurd. However, as much as I love the idea of aliens, I don’t buy it. If there were aliens in flying saucers I think we’d be beyond the conspiracy stages and into actual open communication. Why don’t these guys drop down out of the sky into the middle of a city and say “Howdy, neighbours!”

maybe its possible, but we must prioritize our life problem in this world, rather than think of other problems…
