Happiness Engineers: The Secret Sauce for WordPress.com’s Stellar Support
Take a peek behind our customer support curtain.
Let’s dive into the world of WordPress.com support, where one particular group of superstars is making all the difference: our expert Happiness Engineers!
In today’s post, we’ll explore how these incredible humans make WordPress.com’s technical support a uniquely delightful experience.
Our knowledgable, globe-spanning Happiness Engineers
In a world where dreadful customer support has become the norm, WordPress.com is proud to stand out from the pack with our exceptional service.
Happiness Engineers, or “HEs” (as we call them around the digital office), aren’t just your run-of-the-mill support staff provided with a word-for-word script to follow. Their enthusiasm for helping users navigate the wide world of WordPress, coupled with their second-to-none knowledge of the platform, makes them a uniquely extraordinary bunch.
We’re proud of the fact that our Happiness Engineers span the entire globe, residing in 60 countries and 18 different time zones, which allows for 24/7 availability no matter your home base. For our international customers, few companies can offer the same level of direct support.
The journey to becoming a Happiness Engineer
Now, you don’t simply become a Happiness Engineer overnight. For every hundred applications, only a few individuals are selected to move into our trial phase. Then, every one of them undergoes rigorous evaluation and hands-on training.
From diving into the nitty-gritty of WordPress customization and optimization, to mastering the art of troubleshooting, our Happiness Engineers are truly an exceptional group. They know our products inside and out, particularly because they beta test all of our new features, acting as “product ambassadors” on behalf of you.
Committed to going above and beyond
What really sets these folks apart is their unwavering passion for going beyond the usual support model. There are no cookie-cutter answers here. Happiness Engineers are experts at understanding users’ individual challenges, asking all the right questions, and crafting tailored solutions that address your unique goal or issue.
Whether you reach out with a technical question or just need some inspiration for which theme to use for your baking blog, our HEs will happily answer any and all of the questions you have about WordPress.
Nurturing a vibrant learning community
Your WordPress.com support system doesn’t need to start or end with one-on-one help from Happiness Engineers. Through our forums, webinars, free classes, and unparalleled support library, our HEs demystify WordPress, as well as provide creative ideas and inspiration for success.
Not only does our team interact directly with customers through forums, social media, email, and chat, but they also play a major role in cultivating a thriving community that fosters learning, collaboration, and connection.
Ultimately, here’s what this means for you: Let your creativity run wild and fearlessly embark on all your blogging and website-building quests. Though we’ve run out of superlatives, you can rest assured that our Happiness Engineers have got your back!

How do I access a HE’s? I need to know if I really need to delete WP in order to have JetPack work correctly. I’m afraid to delete the WP app for fear of losing my history. I’ve been a paid member of WP for over a decade.

Sure, the Happiness Engineers are great if you can ever reach them. It takes an average of a week to solve one problem on my WordPress site. You call that stellar? Compared to Apple this is darn poor support service. Why does it take so long? Because there are too few engineers. Chat is NEVER available. I upgraded to a business account and paid more thinking I would get better service. Not so. It’s been worse ever since. Please, fewer new bells and whistles and more support for what already exists.

Dear Jeremy,
It is nice that WordPress has a team of Happiness Engineers who can help members of your great platform. So, speaking about being happy with this kind of service…
I wonder why lately an overwhelming amount of advertisement, which WordPress puts on every single post, and between posts, and under each post is the result of the newest WordPress’ policy, or the result of applying toward members’ blogs artificial intelligence programs, which do not see the difference between members, who want monetization and those who do not want it? Please clarify.
Thank you in advance, Adonis Publishing

The easiest way to avoid having ads on your site is to step up to the Personal plan. Which, among other features, offers the no-ads upgrade: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

I do not understand why you shut down the CSS Customization subforum. It was a great source of help.

i just posted a comment on another blogger’s website, we conversed via the comments on their post. I could respond to comments via the notification bell at the top right corner each time I received notification of their response to my comments, but when I went into my Reader feature, and into that post – all my comments are invisible – they don’t seem to be there, at all. I tried this lots of times – each time I see other comments, but mine at all, and I was one of the first ones to leave a comment on that particular post.
Please can you tell me why this is? Or should I contact WP Happiness guys?

I have had great experiences with the Happiness Engineers. Appreciate the quick, friendly, knowledgeable responses. My tech skills are limited so it’s a relief to know help is on the way when I’m overwhelmed or confused or have no idea how to proceed!

I have relied on the HEs in the past … I have had some oddball questions to ask … my very first time was I could not turn off the italics and all my posts were italicized … some code was embedded that I couldn’t find to turn it off – the HE found it right away. I still refused to italicize anything for a long time. 🙂

Absolutely love the Happiness Engineers! I have been away from my blog and each time I get back to work on it I find I’m rusty on some aspect but they are SO quick to respond and SO kind and helpful! They are the best kind of ambassador for WordPress! When I discuss platforms with others I can reassure with confidance that if as a new user they get confused or can’t figure something out, there is help on WordPress.

I have to admit that pretty much every conversation/engagement I’ve ever had with WordPress support were awesome. For the most part they answered right away, if not a day or two later.
I’ve had some issues understanding how to set up WordPress when I first started and they were extremely cheerful and helpful. Sometimes I worried my questions sounded dumb or redundant but they were always professional and courteous about answering.

A well-deserved shoutout to this team!
Every interaction I’ve had with them has felt like I got my really good bud who knows the latest WP features, to look over my shoulder for a bit. I love the screencapped suggestions some send as quick-look, customized help, and save these.
WP is a live animal and what worked a month ago may be changed now. HE know the ever-changing solutions
But behind an excellent team, are production and hiring managers creating the workspace. A shoutout to those offstage people who bring into being this diverse, yet unified, team of experts.
