New Themes: Book Lite and Misty Lake
Happy Theme Thursday! It’s a great day to share our two newest free themes, both designed especially for your writing (and reading) pleasure.
First off, we have Book Lite, a beautiful theme designed by Chandra Maharzan.
With a bold custom header, stylized type, and elegantly simple design inspired by old-fashioned typopgraphy, it’s perfect for writing and is certain to inspire some of your best work. Read more about Book Lite on the Theme Showcase, or activate it on your site under Appearance → Themes
Next up, we’ve got Misty Lake, our refresh of a familiar classic, Misty Look.
Misty Lake’s mellow color scheme and secondary elements on the page that slightly fade into the…mist provide a tranquil space for your readers to relax and enjoy your words and photos. Learn more about Misty Lake on the Theme Showcase, or go ahead and activate it on your site under Appearance → Themes.

Whoa!
I loved “Misty Look” when I first came to WordPress.com and now, it’s been given new life! Gotta try it! Thanks very much, Theme Team! 🙂
Cheers!

I like the misty lake theme. But is there an option of having different widgets for pages, like in academica? Different widgets for pages is really useful. For example, I use couple of polls in my course page which I am afraid I may not be able to use if I change my theme.

I hope you are not going to stop MistyLook. My Sidebar is too faded to read with this new one.

Misty Lake is the replacement for MistyLook. You may continue to use MistyLook as long as you don’t change themes, but the older MistyLook design may not receive new code updates in the future.

Yes! Two new responsive width theme with the features I like released before Christmas feels like getting two gifts ie. one for each blog. I’m off to decorate (custom headers, backgrounds, etc.) fa, la, la, la, la, la, la la.
Wishing the best of the season to the Themes Staff who provide great themes all year round.

Thank you so much for Misty Lake! It’s just what I’ve been looking for and took less than ten minutes to activate in my site and add a custom header image. (That’s good for a new blogger! = ) I love using WordPress.com.

Misty Lake would be better if there was an option to turn off the mist. The ability to have vibrant photos and sharp text is important to me. Thank you for all the new themes and your consideration.

You can remove the “mist” effects with CSS, which is available through the Custom Design Upgrade.

Excellent! Misty Lake, a girls-theme the big sister of MistyLook. Me likes, switched to it 😉

I hope you let me keep the old Misty Lake. You’ve turned an inspiring, quiet, evocative, contemplative work of art into a photo any nine-year old could have taken on vacation in the Ozarks. PLEASE KEEP THE ORIGINAL MISTY LAKE! YOU CAN CALL IT MISTY LAKE CLASSIC!

Hi there. You can continue to use MistyLook as long as you don’t switch themes. The MistyLook theme may not receive code updates in the future, however.

I love Misty Look–I’ve used it from day 1. I keep looking at Misty Lake; I know I’m supposed to like it better, but I don’t. I don’t want fading out of my sidebar. and I don’t want to have to buy an upgrade to get rid of the mist. Plus, I love the Misty Look font. I hate to be a grouch, but why mess around with a popular theme? Couldn’t you just add Misty Lake as an option and let us lovers of Misty Look keep it? Thanks for listening…
