Reshare a Post on Social Media

Once you’ve published and shared a post, you may want to promote that blog post on your social media networks again later. In this guide, you will learn how to instantly reshare a post on social media or schedule a post to be automatically reshared on a future date.

All sites can share posts automatically to social media upon publishing posts. However, resharing already-published posts is limited to eligible plans.

This feature is available on sites with our WordPress.com Explorer, Creator, and Entrepreneur plans, and the legacy Pro plan. For sites on the free and Starter plans, upgrade your plan to access this feature.

Instantly Reshare a Post

You can instantly reshare any published blog post to one, all, or your choice of connected social networks. To instantly reshare a blog post, follow the steps below.

Select the appropriate tab for your admin interface style:

  1. Visit your site’s dashboard.
  2. In the left side options, select Posts.
  3. Click the ellipses (three dots) next to any post and select the “Share” option:
The ellipsis menu open next to a post with an arrow pointing to the "Share" option in the menu.
  1. You will find your existing connections and an option to add or modify the text to be included in your social media post. You can share to specific social networks by only selecting those specific networks before resharing the post:
The options displayed when resharing a post from the Dashboard, which include the connected networks, a text field for the post message, and "Preview" and "Share post" buttons.
  1. Use the “Preview” button to see what your post will look like in your connected social networks:
The social previews option.
  1. Once satisfied with your changes, click the “Share post” button to share your blog post to your social networks.

You can also quickly reshare posts, with limited configuration options, from within the editor:

  1. Click on the Jetpack icon in the top right corner of the post-editing screen (it looks like a green circle with a lightning bolt inside).
  2. Select the “Share this post” option.
An arrow points to the Jetpack icon in the WordPress editor.

Schedule a Reshare

You can choose a specific date and time for your post to be reshared to your social networks. You can also set up your post to be reshared on multiple dates with different messages to your social media followers.

Use the steps above to select a post to be share to social media. You will not see the reshare option from within the editor, so be sure to use the dashboard option.

Configure the social networks you want to share to and the message you want displayed on those networks.

Click the calendar icon on the “Share post” button to schedule your post. Then, select the date and time you want the post to go out to your social networks.

The “Share post” text will change to “Schedule post” in the button above the calendar once you’ve selected a date or time in the future. Click “Schedule post” to schedule your post.

Cancel a Scheduled Reshare

You can cancel a scheduled reshare before it is published. The steps are:

  1. Visit your site’s dashboard.
  2. In the left side options, select Posts.
  3. Click the ellipses (three dots) next to any post and select the “Share” option.
4. Below the sharing options, you’ll find two tabs labeled “Scheduled” and “Published.” Click “Scheduled” to review your upcoming social share schedule:
The Share option in the Dashboard open and a box drawn around the Scheduled header.
  1. Click the ellipses (three dots) next to a scheduled share.
  2. Select the “Trash” option. Trashing a share only cancels the share to social media that you’ve scheduled.
