WordPress.com Accessible Themes?

  • I’m wondering if all of the available themes for the hosted wordpress.com blogs are considered accessible according to WCAG 2.0 requirements before I have to go testing all of them to verify?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • You need to ask staff directly on this since the volunteers here in the forms probably don’t even know what that is without “googling” it. Personally I doubt the bulk of the themes here are compliant.

  • WCAG 2 (not 1) is a very controversial standard. Some of the requirements are very hard to design around – it depends on the design.

Our themes work very well with screen readers and we strive to make them as accessible as possible.

  • Can you provide a few suggestions of accessible themes for a WordPress.com hosted site?

  • All of the themes that are possible are on your dashboard under “Appearance->Themes”. External themes cannot be applied to a WordPress.com blog. For guidance on the new premium themes, contact staff.
