Weird Html

  • You are looking at the original version of the page. I have no earthly idea why that was showing up there, but it would have been added by whoever created the page, not WordPress.com.

The current version of that page does not have any of that text. You can slide the pointer on the bar to the right to see the most recent version, which is this page:

    https://mccoyspacescapes.wordpress.com/wp-admin/revision.php?revision=155

and reflects the live site, which is what is showing up here:
    https://mccoyspacescapes.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1&action=edit

  • As soon as I saw it I removed it, I just wanted to know where it came from. Two people with some web knowledge thought it was supposed to be there, neither of which will touch the site again. If my friend has a weird bug in his system I’d like to be able to tell him with some confidence.

Was I seeing those broken links because I’m on a Mac, or that I’m using Google Chrome?

  • Sorry for the duplicate messages; just saw this thread here.

From our research, it appears that the code may have come from “AVAST WebRep”, a browser extension that may be installed in the browsers on the computer used to edit that revision. Other reports online searching for this indicate that this app will often insert this “signature” into e-mail messages and other similar form fields.

Hope that helps your friend. Please let us know if you have any questions.

  • Thank you, you nailed it. I’ve noticed WebRep and a few empty boxes on his incoming emails, in fact I pointed them out to him this morning.

Actually, you might be able to direct me to some tutorial that will help me transfer a (Homepage?) that someone built for me at kmmcoytest.wordpress.com to the stonespacescapes.com site?

I really didn’t want to have to learn all this stuff and I was hoping to handle all the updates after the site was built. Magical thinking will only get you so far.

  • If the other site is what you would like to be your actual site, the owner/creator of the other site can actually transfer ownership of the site over to you.

Once that’s done, we can move your domain to that other site.

The creator can transfer it to you by following these steps: http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

Alternatively, you would have to either add him as an user to your site ( instructions ) and have him/her make duplicate their efforts on your site or you would need to following their instructions.

If you have any other questions, please let me know. Cheers!
