Uploaded documents not showing

    Hi,

    Several of the documents I have uploaded do not show when you search for them on the dashboard. They appear the editing page though. I would appreciate it if you could give me any suggestions to fix this.

    Hi there, can you tell us a bit more about what you are searching for, the URL of the page you are performing the search from, and the search terms you are using so we can take a closer look?

    Also it’s worth pointing out that default WordPress site search is basic functionality but you can add Jetpack Search to your site for a more “Google-like” search experience with keyword highlighting and contextual search result pages: https://wordpress.com/support/jetpack-search/

    Thank you for your reply.

    This is the URL: https://portal.peopleandstories.org/. Some of the documents that I uploaded cannot be access from the search bar on the website’s Dashboard. I can access them if I go to the Edit page, but our users do not have access to it. One example, is the short story “The Trip Back.”

    I was wondering if you could help me figure out why this is happening. There are about 25 pdf documents that are not visible form the search bar.

    Thanks for that! Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.

    Pulling up your website, it’s locked behind a login so I can’t take a look to see what might be the issue and whether or not you’re using the default WordPress search feature, a search plugin, or something else.

    The good news is that because you use the open-source variant of the WordPress platform (which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com), help is available at the community forums here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

    The folks in the open-source forum are more familiar with these issues and are in the best position to help.

    Also, as my colleague @staff-totoro said, Jetpack Search uses advanced search indexing and customization, so that may be something worth looking into if you’re not able to sort out the problem with your media uploads.
