UNWANTED POLITICAL SYMBOL ON MY BLOG

  • I DID NOT ASK YOU TO PUT A RAINBOW ACROSS MY BLOG PAGES. PLEASE REMOVE IT. DO NOT ADD POLITICAL SYMBOLS TO BLOGS. YOU ARE TRYING TO FORCE MY READERS TO THINK I SUPPORT THIS CAUSE WHEN I DON’T.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • I am visually challenged and have answered questions here for over 11 years. Please disable you cap locks key so the text is easier to read.

  • I can see no rainbow flag on this site https://soundslikewish.com/ when I visit the site.

When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. I did that for you. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then we subscribe to this thread so we are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

  • I don’t understand why only I can see it. This flag/bar appears on every blog I’ve checked today.
In any case, the function of WordPress is to provide a tool for writers, but they have now attached a political flag to that tool. I cannot remove it myself, apparently. I pay for this blog, and the payment includes No Ads. Your coloured bar is advertising.
    Please remove it.

  • FWIW, I can’t see it either on any blogs I’ve read today including yours just now. Where on the page is the “coloured bar”? Are you sure it isn’t your browser?

  • @wishworth

Screenshots can be very helpful. You can use http://snag.gy/ or http://cloudup.com to share screenshots and link to them here. If you use the WordPress.com guide for screenshots http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ you can and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

  • I’ve taken a screenshot and put it in my media library.

Looking forward to fixing this. I can’t write blog posts while the symbol remains.

  • Thanks for providing it . Please be patient while waiting for a Staff response as it is a weekend and fewer of them are on duty.

  • I am also getting this when i log into my blog, please remove ASAP.

  • I have this issue also. It is not ok to put political symbols on blogs without asking people. I am wondering if this is only limited to blogs in Australia, as it is a rainbow symbol.

  • This is geo-targeted and limited to Australia (due to the postal plebiscite).

The gay pride flag is available in admin login and to all visitors on my website who had logged into WordPress.com. The pride flag is not available to any one who had not logged into WordPress.com but every visitor from Australia (geo-targeted) who had hosted with WordPress.com. In other words, they are using my website to propagate gay agenda using the pride flag to all my visitors who are also their customers. I had asked them to remove but they replied it can’t be removed.

It caused a lot of frustration and disappointment and I am transferring away from WordPress.com. I sent an enquiry to check with ACCC if statements of ‘no Ads’ in paid plans are a ‘false or misleading claim’. I had sent the screenshot and the response from WordPress that they cannot remove. I suggest you do the same. Send the details with ACCC and let them look into it.

  • This is outrageous behaviour. I use my website as my professional portfolio and an essential part of my work is that I am seen to be politically impartial. WordPress will potentially be negatively affecting my job search because of this behaviour that I did not consent to.

  • @timethief,

If you are looking for screenshots, here is the blog that contains it. It also contains the response from WordPress.

    https://trumpetcallorg.wordpress.com/2017/09/02/moving-away-from-the-filthy-wordpress-com/

I had removed my primary domain from being trumpet-call.org as I don’t want to associate my domain with this filthy pride flag.

  • Australia will be holding a national survey on marriage equality over the next two months. To show our support for marriage equality, we’re showing the rainbow bar to all our Australian visitors. You can read more about the marriage equality campaign here: http://www.equalitycampaign.org.au/

We cannot remove this banner for individual sites. We understand it looks a bit different to what you’re used to, but it’s here for everyone. We absolutely respect your right to publish the content you choose to your site, but the navigation bar styling reflects WordPress.com’s stance as a company.

The rainbow bar will remain until after the survey results are released, on November 15.

If this causes you to choose to leave WordPress.com, we’re sorry to see you go. You can find documentation on how to move your site here: https://move.wordpress.com/

We can also assist your move with our Guided Transfer service: https://en.support.wordpress.com/guided-transfer/
