Hi there,
I checked your site http://shprd95.wordpress.com/
I see few posts have excerpts and few don’t.
Follow these steps to add excerpt to a Blog Post
– Edit the post you want to shorten
– Click on Insert Read More tag button (dotted line between two lines)
– Drag —MORE— line from where you want to limit the post
– Click on UpdateAlso, you can try adding your custom read more message in HTML section.
Refer this link for detailed info

@krutidugade: No worries. Thanks for providing some extra details there. :)
how to add search bar to header behind primary menu
@shprd95: It isn’t possible to do this. However, you can add a Search Widget to your widget areas.
Here are a few other themes that have a built in search feature towards the top:
https://wordpress.com/theme/academica
https://wordpress.com/theme/edin
https://wordpress.com/theme/ryu
Not all of the themes at the link below will have that feature, but I’ve pulled the ones above from here:

@tommysaustralianlife: Those only appear when you are logged into WordPress.com with edit access to the site. If you view the site while not logged in, you won’t see those links. Your site visitors won’t see them or have access to edit your site.
If you have other questions about this, could you open a new thread so we can assist you there?
