Themes Not Updating
-
Hello,
I recently purchased a new domain (it’s not live yet) and I selected a Theme to look at as a place holder. Now, I want to customize a different one. I select “Customize Site” on the one I want to work with and nothing changes. Nothing happens. Nothing updates.Any thoughts are appreciated! Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m having the same problem with the Redhill theme. When I tried to add content, the editable page that shows up looks nothing like the theme template.

Does this happen when editing a specific post or page, or does it happen when creating them too?

It seems to be both. I think it’s partially working, but when I change the colors, the default still shows in the preview mode. Also the menu doesn’t appear on the home page.
It could be new user errors on my part. I was expecting the template to look like the demo, but it’s different… (different stock images, fonts etc).

@michellearvin, it looks like you may have deleted the original front page. Can you go here?
https://wordpress.com/pageScroll down and select the Redhill template. You should be able to customize that. Then (this is important) publish the page.
Finally, go to Customize > Front Page and select your new front page.

This is on the customizer, with Redhill theme active.
@supernovia – thanks, I tried that too and got this: https://snipboard.io/s713kF.jpg which seems to be the same thing I already used to get this https://wordpress.com/page/michellearvin.com/103Still no menu…

Yep, that’s the same thing I get. I tried again this morning on Safari (had previously been using Chrome)- same thing…

Nope. I made new pages but they’re not uniform since the theme still didn’t work. I’m not sure what the best way is to proceed at this point. Is there a way to re-start the theme and keep the content, or will I have to try to scrap it all and re-start from the beginning? (this is what I did last time)

To clarify, you are trying to set up your site homepage to look like the example you see here? https://wordpress.com/theme/dara
The ‘Dara’ theme is one that was created before we had a block editor, so the homepage is not created using blocks, as some of our newer themes are. Instead this theme has a pre-set homepage template that you set up by following the guide here on the left: https://wordpress.com/theme/dara
It is possible for us to add preset content to give you a head start. Your site will look very much like the demo site for the theme itself. However, this will mean that any contents you have on the site now will be lost.
With this in mind, do you want us to add the demo content (and erase what you have now) or do you prefer to instead follow the setup guide for manually populating the homepage template?
Let us know how you would like to proceed or if you have any questions.

No, I’m trying to use the “Redhill” theme. Is it possible to reset to that? I can re-add content if it’s wiped out, but can’t seem to ever get the template to function…
