Switching to Premium Plan

  • Hi there,

I’m keen to switch to Premium Plan, however, it is unclear what will happen with my VaultPress paid account: http://take.ms/N3Rmd Is it a part of Jetpack plan?

    Please advise.

    Regards
    Stas

  • Hi there,

Are you trying to upgrade a WordPress.com site or a self-hosted WordPress.org site? VaultPress and Jetpack can only be used on self-hosted sites. There is a Jetpack Premium plan, which includes a VaultPress subscription, but that is an entirely different upgrade than WordPress.com Premium.

Can you let me know exactly what site it is that you want to upgrade, and I might be able to give you more clarity on what you need to do.

  • This is the sort of confusion I’m having. I’m self-hosted, but want to use Vaultpress AND Videopress. The premium upgrade includes both (I think), but it refers to hosting on the WordPress servers for everything.

    Thanks for the help.

  • To use VideoPress you will need a WordPress.com Premium plan on your WordPress.com site. The videos will be uploaded to the media library on WordPress.com, and be served from our servers onto your Jetpack-connected site.

For VaultPress you’ll then also need a Jetpack plan, so you’ll essentially need two upgrades on different sites to use both these services.

  • Thank you for the information. One question from the other post did not get answered. If I have my wp-config.php file set to upload to a different directory (domain.com/images/) instead of (domain.com/wp-content/uploads/), will Vaultpress be able to back these up? I couldn’t find specific information on this. I know it creates a backup of the wp-content folder, but is it possible to have it backup the external folder as well? It’s set in the install.

I appreciate all of your help.

  • I asked someone on the VaultPress team, and it is possible to back up non-standard directories, but you’ll need to contact VaultPress support once your site is up and running and VaultPress installed so they can add that directory to the backup manually.

When the time comes, you can contact VaultPress support directly here:

  • Thank you so much for all of your help. I can now move forward with my development. Have a great day!

  • You’re very welcome :)
