Sticky post not showing up correctly – #2

  • I am using theme Twenty Fourteen, as it has the layout that I want for this site.

I have set up this site, and want to show the new items as sticky posts at the top of the page.

When I make a post sticky, it is only showing the title. I want it to show the whole post.

A previous topic with heading “Sticky post not showing up correctly”, had this exact same problem.

    The reply to this was:

I think this is because of the default Front page setting in Twenty Fourteen theme.

Please go to Appearance > Customize > Front > select “A static page”.
Your sticky post will appear at the top of the page.

I have gone to Appearance > Customize, but there is no “Front” or any mention of “A static page”. Wondering if you can help me understand what to do in this case.

If this doesn’t work for this theme that I am using, is there another one that looks very similar that will do the what I want, please?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,
I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your website. I think that “Homepage Settings” should be used instead of “Front” due to a typo as below.

Please go to Appearance > Customize > Homepage Settings > select “A static page”.
Your sticky post will appear at the top of the page.

Find “Homepage Settings” directly from here

Here you’ll find detailed information about Homepage Settings

  • Hi,
    Thanks for the quick reply.

I did not have a Page created so I have now done that.

So now the sticky post works.

Now if only I could format the sticky post to make it stand out from the rest, say a grey background with a box around it.

  • It’s great to hear you figured out the challenge.
To add additional styling to the sticky post, go to your_site->Appearance->Customize. Then, on the next panel, navigate to Additional CSS.

You may find more thorough information here.

Please note that, “Additional CSS” functionality is only accessible for sites with WordPress.com’s  Explorer, Creator, and Entrepreneur plans.

You can upgrade your site’s plan from your_site->Upgrades->Plans.
    Thank you.
