Spam URL Popping Up
-
Hello – I noticed this week that if I try to go directly to my site by typing in the URL, or a launch a link (from a social media post for example), or I launch a link from a page on the site, I’m seeing a ‘spam’ page and I’m not sure how to get rid of it. Are you able to please point me in the right direction?
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @bubblyhostess, sorry to hear it! Can you confirm that’s happening at bubblyhostess.wordpress.com ?
Please also gather as much context as you can, including any screenshots, links, the time you saw this ad, etc.

Hi Bubbly Hosetss,
I checked your blog and there is not any such POP UP Ads. Can you please check it on another browser and another computer? You may got the POP UP message because of your browser is affected with some ad wares.Go to http://www.malwarebytes.com. Download and install Malwarebytes Free version. Scan your computer and remove every malwares detected. Then check the result.

Hi @supernovia – I see this every time I type http://www.bubblyhostess.com directly into a URL – it takes me to that “ad” page instead of my home page. If I type in Bubbly Hostess into a search bar, I can pull up the site through the results. Or if I am on the site and I search for something, this same add pops up. How can I include a screen shot through this forum? Or you can type in http://www.bubblyhostess.com and you will see it. I appreciate you stopping to help me! Thank you! Heather

Hi @jinsmn – thank you for my reply, it happens on all of my computers and my phone, I have had others tell me about it as well. The site is http://www.bubblyhostess.com. Thanks! Heather

Your site has certainly been hacked. We can’t help you as your site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform. You find some info at https://wordpress.org/support/article/faq-my-site-was-hacked/

Yeah — @staartmees is right. It’s a good idea to contact your host first. See if you can get a backup restored.
Your host may hot help with WordPress itself, but they should help you with any questions you have about the article @staartmees shared.
This one’s a good one too, IMO.
Then you’ll want to take steps to secure your installation.
If you want someone else to manage your installation and security once this incident is resolved, you are welcome to move your content to our managed hosting:
https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-an-entire-wordpress-site/Good luck, and let us know if you have any questions about hosting here! If you decide to manage your own installation, there’s a forum specifically for that over at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ .
Cheers!
