Reduce article to preview
-
Hello,
I would like to know:
1. how to reduce the total number of articles visible on my homepage (they are too many now)
2. if this is not possible, how to make only a preview of the articles visible instead of the whole of them? This is because the theme I chose (STOW) seems to have only a footer widget and I need somehow to have a search button more accessible to readers.
Thank you
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
Happy to help you with this.
1. how to reduce the total number of articles visible on my homepage (they are too many now)
This can be changed via Settings > Reading.
You may also want to look into adding a More block into the content to reduce scrolling there: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/more-block/
I hope this helps.

I have done this, reducing them from 10 to 5 but I still see 13 of them.
Does the “Featured” setting has something to do with it? -
Yes, featured posts do override the limit. It’s really meant to only highlight 1 post at a time. So, you’d have 5 posts maybe, but 1 above them that’s important information or something like that.
However, based on what you’re saying, you might want to just have a static front page, so you can have more control over what’s visible there: https://wordpress.com/support/pages/front-page/
On that page, you can add the Blog Posts block, which will give you a lot of control: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/blog-posts-block/
And, to get that search more accessible, add a Search block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/search-block/

Awesome!
I just created a page following your instructions and it is simply great! Now, if I understood correctly, the page with only the recent articles has been removed. How to make it available somewhere?
Also, while creating the new Home page, I didnt find a block for the “Topics” to possibly insert in a 70-30 column with articles to the left and topics to the right.
Is it somewhere there called in some funny way? -
If you’d also like to have a standard list of posts, create and select a blog page: https://wordpress.com/support/pages/front-page/#step-3-create-a-blog-page-optional
As for the topics, do you mean a categories list? https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/categories-block/
You can find all available blocks at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/

Mmm … to create a blog posts page that looks like it did before what block should I use?
-
The blog posts page will just be a list of posts, like you had on the front before, you cannot add blocks to it.
-
-
You’ll have to create a page first you want your posts on, like create one called “Blog” or “News” then you can select it as your separate posts page.
