Redirect issues causing a Podcast to clone itself

  • (Apologies for double-posting but my previous attempt is showing as Topic Closed?)

Until recently, we used the same WordPress website (beyondtheboxset.com) to host two Podcasts – Beyond The Box Set and Beer, Pizza and a Movie

However, this month we moved Beyond The Box Set to Podbean and redirected the RSS feed accordingly. However, for some reason WordPress is redirecting both Beyond The Box Set *and* Beer Pizza & a Movie’s feeds to the Podbean RSS.

Consequently Beer, Pizza & A Movie has been turned into a clone of Beyond The Box Set – same episodes, same artwork etc, causing that Podcast (BTBS) to show up twice in iTunes, Stitcher etc.

For the time being we want to continue hosting Beer Pizza & A Movie through the WordPress site.

In Podcast>Settings>Feed Details> I’ve unchecked ‘Redirect this feed to new URL’ under ‘Default feed’ and only added the redirect URL in the Beyond The Box Set feed, but it doesn’t seem to have had any effect.

Any ideas? (Hope this makes sense – it’s a bit of a head scratcher!)

  • Hey there, beyondtheboxset.com looks to be using the standalone WP software and is hosted at GoDaddy and not here at WordPressdotcom.

Standalone WP (org) and WordPressdotcom (where we are) are different entities with separate documentation and support forums; more information about the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

You can find all the support information for sites using the WP (org) software at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page and at https://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums, you can register one on that page.

Best wishes for a quick solution.

(I’ve gone ahead and closed your other thread as a duplicate thread. I see it as currently open.)
