You are correct about the url being gone:
anthonynogales.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.Is there any way for me to recover my old domain?
Once you delete a url, it is gone forever.
From long-time volunteer timethief: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/is-there-any-way-to-free-up-a-deleted-domain?replies=2#post-2044281You cannot recover or register any deleted blog URL. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and it must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click. Once the verification link for deletion is clicked the blog URL is forever gone, gone, gone.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/You can register another .wordpress.com blog
(with a different name)
http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

As for free and different names, try adding a number before or after such as “1anthonynogales,” or using “anthonynogalessays,” or “anthonynogaleswisdom,” or some other creative re-definition of the url.
