  Can I purchase a theme without purchasing a premium plan? I want to experiment before making a commitment. Will the theme (the format) I purchase look exactly like the demo? All I want is a theme that will allow me to replace the demo data/images with my own data/images.

  Yes. The only premium themes we can purchase and use wordpress.COM hosted blogs are found here https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sort/premium/
