Posting style HATE new form.

  • Really HATE the new posting form. HATE HATE HATE it.
I want to set my default to old form. Help! I want to set my default to old form. Help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • The happiness engineers said there’s nothing we can do except purchase a WordPress premium website. The open source classic editor will available to paying WordPress users.

But you can open a free site that uses the classic editor like the ones listed in this post.

  • It seems WordPress are making it impossible to make a link to the member vote.

The url is visible at least.

Unless you are referring to VIP hosting that is untrue.

The so-called poll is not conducted by wordpress.com and it is biased and irrelevant.

We can use the classic editor for creating posts and editing them and I linked to my post that describes how to do that above.

jeremylduval posted exactly that statement yesterday.

The so-called poll is not conducted by wordpress.com and it is biased and irrelevant.

Because it’s not created by WordPress and because it’s public and transparent and because everyone can read the results and view the chart, it is fair and absolutely valid.

I understand it’s an embarrassment for WordPress.

Since people are either ignored on this forum if they point out the flaws in the new editor or their comments get spammed so moderators close down discussions, that vote is our only voice!

  • Hi there,

You are welcome to continue using the classic editor, whether or not you purchase a WordPress.com upgrade. You can follow these steps to get to that editor:

From https://wordpress.com/ you can click on “My Sites” in the upper left, and then click on “WP Admin” in the sidebar to open the classic WP Admin dashboard. You can view your existing posts under Posts > All Posts and start a new post under Posts > Add New.

If you’d like assistance finding that classic editor please post a link to your site and I can help you get there.

If you no longer want to see the new WordPress.com dashboard and editor at all, another option is to move to a self-hosted site using the free software from WordPress.org. There are some costs associated with that option (namely hosting costs to host your site elsewhere), but it would give you the most control over your site’s dashboard and editor. You can learn more about WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org if you’re interested in that option.

  • Thank-you Happiness Engineer, I appreciate the Buoyant Happiness of using the fluffy old interface.

  • Just want to say, I and all of my fellow bloggers who I have spoken with HATE HATE HATE HATE the “new and improved” (HA!) form. It is clunky, limited, and nasty to work with. I can’t work within my photos to add links or resize, the tags and categories don’t work, and even the amount of space I have to type in is smaller.

If this is the degree of disrespect you show for your users, I won’t be surprised when someone comes up with bigger, better and badder software to push you out of the business. Especially as this “new” layout seems to be dedicated to forcing your customers to move to wordpress.org.

I took the poll – and I find it humorous that WordPress finds the poll “The so-called poll is not conducted by wordpress.com and it is biased and irrelevant.” If it WAS posted by WordPress, then I would Expect it to be biased and irrelevant. The question is:

“Poll – Would you be satisfied to replace the WordPress Classic editor with the new default editor?”

No. I hate the new editor. It’s defective. It should be scrapped. (77.1% agree – 2480 responses)

Never. I love the Classic editor and it works for my professional website. (16.3% – 523 responses)

No. I want to be able to choose and keep both editors active. (6% agree – 195 responses)

Yes. I like the new editor. (9 votes – statistical absence of relevance)

I don’t care. Whatever. (9 votes – statistical absence of relevance)

I only found the poll when I came here to complain about the new editor, but this a clear question, with clear responses.

Is there a possibility you will listen to your customers, or will you continue to force them over to wordpress.org?

  • @soireadthisbooktoday
We have known since March 18th, 2015 that the link to the classic editor will not be provided in the new Beep Beep Boop editor.

You do not have to use the new Beep Beep Boop editor.

If you are solution orientated you can use the classic editor right now to create and edit posts and pages. And, you can still use the old stats pages too. See here for how to do that Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface

  • So, WP is only interested in the “I can only think in 140 characters or less” crowd. Wow. Before you know it, conversation, thought, writing, and all forms of intelligent discourse will be a thing of the past. . .

    Did you see this? http://diaryofdennis.com/2015/03/24/how-to-force-a-redirect-to-the-classic-wordpress-com-editor-interface/

Forcing a redirect to the classic editor.

  • I have seen multiple posts on this. I I think mine is a comprehensive one and that’s why I linked to it above.

  • Yes, but it’s extra steps to go to Admin every time. For one thing, this new editor, besides being really annoying, uses small type – very hard on the eyes. This is so irritating, I would have to leave wordpress.com should I not be able to use the classic editor. I’m already irritated by having to take the extra step instead of just clicking on edit on my post directly.

  • tpenguinltg made a post with a list of work-arounds so you can use the classic editor both for making a new post and editing older posts.
    https://tpenguinltg.github.io/wpcom-edit-post-redirect.user.js/index.html

I use the user script with Greasemonkey on Firefox and it works better than the cookies WP used before they eliminated it.

  • Thanks for this. Amazing that WordPress has a “take it or leave it, we don’t give a damn what our customers think” attitude.

  • Thanks for this. Amazing that WordPress has a “take it or leave it, we don’t give a damn what our customers think” attitude.

  • I agree with you, soireadthisbooktoday, about WP not caring about what their customers think.

  • If you are not happy here at WordPress.COM please don’t overlook the fact that you are in charge of your own happiness. You are not powerless and there’s no need to waste any time at all on being unhappy. We all own our content and we can move it to wherever we think we will receive better treatment, or we can self host. That’s important to keep in mind because we have known since March 18th that there will be no reversion, and camping out in support threads like this one just to complain is not an effective and productive use of anyone’s time.
