Posting essays in ‘classic’ format

    How do I post new entries in the ‘classic’ format? I posted something like 270 entries — mostly verbatim interviews and articles I’ve published in magazines — between mid-2011 and mid-2021. At some point, WordPress seems to have made the ‘block’ format the default, and I haven’t been able to figure out how to format them as I had before.

    Hi there,

    You can edit and create content in the classic editor by following the steps here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/classic-editor-guide/

    Please note that while the classic editor is still available, it no longer receives updates from developers so it does not have all the features that you find in blocks. But for simple content it works respectably still.

    You can also consider using the “Classic Block” which is a block you can add to the new editor that has the entire classic editor inside of it (including the formatting toolbar you are used to) which would allow you to access the classic tools mixed with items that are only available in the block editor: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
