  In the Oulipo theme, I’m using the categories drop-down menu on my sidebar, but I want it to stay there when you go to the category. Actually, I’d be fine with it always being there. Presumably then there is a good CSS fix for this, I just don’t know what it would be…

  CSS editing allows you to change the appearance of a theme, not the way it works. What you need to do is create a custom menu, add your About page and your categories to it, and activate it as your top menu so that it’ll show up in the left sidebar. Instructions here:
