Migration from Joomla to WordPress.com
-
Is it possible to migrate a website from Joomla to WordPress.com? If yes, how?
Based on what I’ve seen here on http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/ it seems that Joomla is not directly supported.
Do you know any easy way to do that migration? The question has been asked a few times here but was never really answered. I guess one way would be to convert the Joomla website into one of the supported format and then try to import it, but being new to CMS, I am not familiar with any of these formats and I was hoping somebody here could help me!
Thanks a lot!

Hi thibaultrihet,
This question is best asked at the Support Forum of WordPress.org but I think this would answer that. You will need to use a Plugin.

There’s no doubt about this. Please read what Staff have said in another forum thread at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/need-help-switching-from-joomla-to-wordpress?replies=6#post-1847215Unfortunately, there isn’t an easy way to achieve this since the resources I found requires a special plugin that isn’t available on WordPress.com. You might have better luck moving to a WordPress.org blog instead.
A WordPress.org blog allows you to upload your own custom plugins and themes, and gives you full control over your site’s code.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

It might be more trouble than it’s worth, but once you imported your site from Joomla to WordPress.org, you could probably import the WordPress.org site over to WordPress.com.

Since you can’t install Plugin’s on WordPress.COM
Your option given by @elzrjose would be to install WordPress.ORG software on your existing web site – install whatever Plugin needed – convert from Joomla – then export the WordPress.ORG install files and import the files to a WordPress.COM blog here –
Not sure if that meets “easy” or not – the other option would be to hire someone to do the conversion for you
Also the terms of service are different here with many things that can’t be done – so you should review the Terms of service in detail first
