Hello! Is the option to upgrade my account the only option I have if I want to add more media (mostly photos) storage space so I can upload more photos for each blog post? This is all I really need. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
You can refer below article for storage upgrade:
Also refer the following thread answered by a staff.

Hi themileagefamily,
Each plan comes with limited storage space. The free plan has 3GB storage space, and if you wish to have more, you have to upgrade.
Please check the different plans here:

Thanks so much for the info! I’m just concerned about cost knowing that when I do upgrade, that 10 gb of storage will go by fast if I want to continue my personal family blog. The next upgrade would be business premium for storage and I really don’t need all the extras and wouldn’t want to pay an additional $25 a month. I wish WordPress had an “a la carte” option of upgrades…especially storage for photos.

Hi there, If you are uploading your images right out of your camera or phone, you’ll not only eat up that space in a flash, your site visitors need to wait until all your images load and if they are on mobile, that is a lot of data transfer!
If you are taking the time to resize and optimize your images in an image editing program before uploading them to your site, even the extra 3GB of space in the Personal plan should hold you for a long time. The only time you’d want to upload a full-size image is if you are letting your site visitors download your images for printing. Otherwise,
In general, images should be around 1600 pixels wide unless you have a theme that requires a larger image for the featured image.

That makes a lot of sense. My photos are uploaded from my photos saved on my desktop. I haven’t resized all of them and I wish I knew that when I first started with wordpress. I first started posting back in 2013 so I guess it only makes sense that the 3GB is fully used?
Now that I know I should resize, any tips here that I can use moving forward in being able to write posts, upload pictures, without having to upgrade and still keeping my blog/name address?

Hello again, You can see your current storage space usage in your site’s Media Library in the gauge at the upper right corner of that screen.
I’m not going to suggest that you go back and replace existing images with resized ones or edit your uploaded images on site as that only uses more space because both the original image and the edited image are saved. That way lies pain.
If your Media Library is full, the only real option is to upgrade, especially if you use the Gallery feature like in themileagefamily.wordpress.com/2017/12/07/christmas-trees/ You can only create a Gallery from images that are uploaded to your website. Same with Featured Images.
There are few other options for embedding Media hosted elsewhere, like from Mesh https://en.support.wordpress.com/mesh-embeds/ Flickr https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/flickr-photos/ or Facebook https://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/facebook-embeds/ and Instagram embeds https://en.support.wordpress.com/instagram/instagram-images/
Hope that helps.

By the way, if you want to upgrade, there’s a banner displaying in the forum with a code for a 20% discount. Once that banner is removed the offer is over, but you can subscribe to email promotions in your account notifications at https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/updates
